General13, many years from now, when the playoff system is fully entrenched, people will shake their heads when they read about the history of college football and try to understand why national champions, for the most part, were decided by journalists sitting in their cubicles and not on the field. It is absurd.

I completely agree. I just feel that not recognizing those that played is an injustice to them and the sport.

totally agree, sick of seeing 210lb LB's getting bulldozed in the 3rd qtr by a 225lb RB...

need more Kelvin Shepperd type guys 6'3 -6'4 235-240 LB's

this has to happen, if we know were going to miss better be going after someone else close that recruit harder...

...but as long as CNS is at bama

Well Im going to have to agree with this. We thought Bama would drop off when they lost McElroy. We thought Bama would drop off when they lost that offensive line last year. Well- now we are thinking Bama will drop off because they are losing their offensive line and their QB.

Every once in a while a freek of a head coach comes along and it just so happens that freek is at a freek school.

Bama has won multiple national championships under numerous head coaches for a reason. The institution is the epicenter of Alabama culture- nothing else matters. As long as Saban is there- its over in the SEC West (and the SEC) and no sunshine pumping is going to change this.

This, the college football post season is one the most ridiculous things in sports.

I know, but part of me wants him there when(if) LSU tunrs it around.

Revenge against Bama would be much sweeter if it happens while Saban is still the coach.

...but it will never happen

Start a thread about playoffs and the idiots will come out in full force saying it will ruin the regular season though.

Question: What do you think are the 2 or 3 major changes that Les needs to make to catch up to Alabama and keep ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M?

1. Prepare for every game like he is preparing for Alabama. Miles seems to take inferior temas lightly and this rubs off on the players. This is why we lost to Ole Miss and why Furman kept it close for half the game.

2. Keep the pressure on other teams when we get a lead. Stop going into a shell once we get up big (ie Auburn game). Not saying he should run up the score, but stay and keep the team focused and running on all cylinders even if we are just trying to run out the clock.

It will ruin the Rant other than the folks who want to debate whether we'll be a 3-seed or 5-seed or whatever we end up with one day. People will not care as much about beating or losing to Bama in the regular season as we'll hope to get them in the playoffs (which Bama was lucky enough to do on 1/9/12).

Didn't read all 10 pages, but just listen to McCarron's comments after the game. There's most of your answer.

8 team playoff would mean about 12-16 teams still have a shot to win it all. More fanbases would remain interested. Of course we would not be part of it this year

Very good analysis.

It is obvious our problems are on defense. Offensively, we will be pretty good next year even with a RS Freshman at QB.

I am still scratching my head at how A.J., Ego, Rasco & Hunter performed. On paper these 4 should be one of the premier D-Line's in the country. They all have the size & talent. Who's coaching the D-Line? (I know the answer just waiting for the attacks)

LB's - well I won't criticize them anymore than they have been, just again asking who's coaching them?

DB's - got beat way too often in man coverage. Our safeties were clueless. Who's coaching the DB's?

And by the way, who teaches our DB's to tackle? Do any of them know how to get low, square up and tackle at waist level or below? All of them go for body shots and bounce off (Alabama's last touchdown). Who coaches that?

I am not suggesting firing those coaches, just pointing out the drop-off from 2011.

I don't think you can blame the poor defensive play on "LACK OF TALENT"!

Sometimes even the best position coaches/recruiters need to have a fire lit under their arses!!!

Maybe it will, but LSU will continue down hill as well. Alabama has always will be better than LSU historically.

I say they go after Chris Truax at SFA. He is one hell of a recruiter and a coach that can turn an OL into a line that does not give up sacks!!! He will also have OL go to the NFL!!!!!

No jackass the rule is we don't have to compete with another major program...which should make it easier keeping top recruits home. Are you really this stupid? Yes you are because you took the 5 star comment literally.

Well I'm just trying to figure out why a school like Alabama gets a pass when they miss on a kid to another school that is not the other major program in the state, but LSU doesnt get a pass on missing.

Personally ... I don't ever want to see more than an 8 team playoff...and would prefer to keep it at 4.

Take a look at teams 1-4 right now ... then at teams 5-8. Then at teams 8-16...

No need to water this all down.

We already have the NBA and NHL.

Miles needs to get serious about the direction of this program. Play time is over.

I'm not going to say that there is 2 or 3 certain things that need to be changed but I do know that Les is recruiting a lot of 3 and "to the league" type players. I think he needs to instill a mindset in the locker room of doing the right thing and having a relentless work ethic. I think he needs to figure out how to change some players minds about entering the draft (i.e. Hill, Landry, Collins). This would be the best recruitment per say he has had in all of his years he's been here. It is just simply impossible to beat the Bama's of the world with immature freshmen on both sides of the ball that just can't make the plays a junior or senior experienced player would make.
