After watching the the that The Truth 34 posted of the LSU/UGA 2003 game, i began to wonder. Think we will ever be as dominant? Before Saban left for what he thought was bigger and better things, he was well on his way to building one of the most powerful dynasties since Caesar. LSU would have been unstoppable for several years. Do you think we will see another team that good? Do you think you will see another LSU team that didnt just go in and win, but go in and completely dominate everyone else? Unlike today, where every play was exciting because you don't kno what's going to happen next. But then, every play was exciting because you didnt know which tiger was going to rip the head head off of an opposing player, or which offensive player was going to break it big. I haven' seen this since Saban left.

LSU lost to an average Florida team that year.

I guess you are not allowed to watch LSU in bowl games. Other than the mess at the Capital One against Penn State, the Tigers have been dominant.

They are badass, don't get me wrong. but I honestly believe that today's team wouldnt stand a chance against the 2003 team. they just seem like they dont play with the chip on their shoulder like they used to.

+100000000

That game was fricking huge, especially considering that it turned out that their preseason rank wasn't inflated.

It was that game that opened the door to the leapfrogging we needed to get into the NC game.

And 2004 saw an LSU team that was merely good not great - the kind of team people wanted to fire Miles for in '08 and '09.

Funny how memory is: Miles' tenure has been more successful, in nearly every measurable way, than Saban's and people still wax reminiscently about how dominant Saban was (and the 2003 was outstanding, one of our best teams ever).

probably the most dominate OOC victory in the history of the program

maybe ND in the 28-8 win but that 07 win vs Va Tech was unreal.....and oh yeah OP, Les Miles was coaching that team

Really going out on a limb by saying this year's team would get beat by arguably the best team in school history

I think some people give Saban a pass somewhat on the 04 season since he had built LSU up from the depths but I agree kinda hypocritical. What I also find interesting is the 11 team may end up eerily similiar to the 04 team. A senior qb not up to being a starting qb on a national championship caliber team and a talented young player who most feel is not quite ready. Though I see the difference being Mett is probably ahead of JaMarcus at this point due to a full year or playing at the JC ranks while JaMarcus was redshirted but JJ is not even as good as Randall. Maybe that will make Les'decision easier as I think the 11 team looks to be even more talented across the board than the 04 team which had some pretty good players at all positions.

many do, I don't get all upset about 04

Ppl forget that 03 team had NO EXPECTATIONS of being a NC contender. Not saying they snuck up on teams but no one was talking NC that year

07 was nothing but expectations. IMO it is more difficult to coach from that position than from the 03 situation.

The first UGA-LSU 03 game was one of the best I have ever attended....even if it was a loss. Great atmosphere, close game, hard fought.
