Can't bunt either.

yep. no way we keep the top ranking above a great bunting team from the left coast.

Seriously though, why can't Mainieri ever manage a run home from 2nd base with 0 out? I'll have to go back and check, but my guess is we'd be undefeated if we could manufacture runs from 2nd with 0 out or 3rd with 1 out.

because they don't let coaches bat.

I was under the impression that the ability to bunt, hit a fly ball and hit a grounder to the right side of the infield when you want to are coachable skills. If not, what a waste of $750k.

pitching around a hitter trying to do those things are coachable as well...

What's tough about it? Do you think CPM is on the phone with all the pollsters pleading his case to keep LSU #1?

We were unanimously #1 last week, and we will almost certainly be the unanimous #1 this week. Who do you think is going to jump ahead of us? If you Vandy or A&M, I'm gonna laugh in your face. I guess there's a light chance that some pollsters might get a hard on for UCLA because they haven't lost a 3 game series all year, they still went 2-2 overall this week, so I'd be pretty shocked if they jumped us.

None of it really matters anyway. If we can win our final 2 series, we're pretty much 100% a national seed regardless of what happens in the SEC tournament.

The main thing for LSU is being able to host those two NCAA playoff series before the College World Series and to play better in the CWS than the last few times.

you know I'm not a "poll" guy. Just a bunch of people voting for teams that haven't even seen them play.

But especially for those sports (isn't it all sports, now that football has gone to a playoff?) where there's a playoff to crown a champion, why do polls even matter anymore?

It's all about seeding in the tournament, and that's not done by silly polls, but by committee.

While you are being smart asses about it, losing that third game--a game they probably should have won--to a team that may not make the SEC tournament could hurt us, especially when other teams went unbeaten against equal or better competition this week.
