Getting kind of annoyed at the "wait until 7 seconds from 5 ft away from the 3 point line then chunk up a prayer 3" play

Surely there is a play that is called.. But this just looks like undisciplined street ball.

Who's fault is that? Jones or the players?

We have the same strategy at the end of the game too... how bout using Hickey as a decoy and dishing to someone else. Hickey hasn't hit many game winners lateley.

I like johnny jones, but this is one of my biggest criticisms of him. Having hickey jack up contested 3s is retarded

I trust Martin shooting more than any other player on the team

Why doesn't the offense go through him? Hopefully we see more of him next season

seems like their only idea is to put it in hickey's hands and let him try and make something happen.

this is not a very well coached team. the players themselves share the responsibility though. to lay down like that when you have a chance to compete with the #1 team in the country at their place with a 20 game win streak at stake is pretty disappointing. they didn't even compete.

It looks like the play is always for Hickey to drive and either teardrop or dish, but a Hickey can never get past his defender.

I agree on the last possession I'd give it to Jarrell and have him go iso. He has a similar frame and style of shot as Lebron. Go strong to the rim or elevate and shoot the jumper.

Jones is gonna have to do like J-Cal at KY and just hope he can get the right mix on the court one season and then out talent everyone.

I'm kind of used to it now.

Hickey dribbles methodically near the half court line as the clock ticks. 13, 12, 11, 10, 9... Hickey gets into gear, begins dribbling fast to the right, then left, then back to the right. 5 seconds have passed, the clock is down to four. Now is the time. Hickey stops his dribble and jumps into the air for his shot... 25 feet from the basket. Clank. Halftime.

I think that's how CJJ has it drawn up too.

My perception is there is a disconnect between what is being coached and taught and what is being executed on the court.

Because I don't think CJJ does not know the fundamental concepts of coaching basketball. The concepts are pretty simple and universal. There ain't alot of creativity and inginuity going on in the college basketball that I see these days.

It's getting your team to execute the fundamental concepts and for whatever reasons, IMHO...this year, CJJ isn't getting our kids to execute these things as well as most of the teams in the SEC, including teams that are not as taletened as we are.

The hope is for me that this year is an excepton. A bad mix of personell and circumstances and CJJ will learn from this, coach smarter, recruit smarter and move forward.

Because for me, one can talk about our small guards, Martin's injury, losing Morgan and whatever other rationalizations one wants to, this year, to this point to me has been a disappointment and an underachievement.

It isn't the litmus test for CJJ and he will get plenty ot time to correct and forge his legacy in the coming years.

But for now, this year can be judged on it's own merit and IMHO it has been a disappointment pending some miraculous SEC tourney run, which given the consistent defensive issue we have, which I think transcend personell, is highly unlikey.

Pretty much. I am sure there is someone trying to run off of a screen somewhere, but it appears that every team figures it out.

It's hard to believe that cJJ was a point guard. He really seems shy about doing any coaching during the games, although it is clear that the players are decently coached in practices on the offensive side of the ball, from good individual skills and general team movement.

His key issues are that he doesn't make adjustments in game and doesn't have any solid rotation which tires out his big guys in the first half.
