Does Canada's offense require a dual threat QB, pro style, hybrid?

Of the QB's on the squad (as well as incoming Brennan) who fits his scheme best?

You new here? Canadas calling card is the ability to build an offense around his players. His big thing was- give me the best players and I'll score points with them.

Canada's offense can run through any style of QB because he makes adjustments depending on the player's strengths and weaknesses.

As the posters above me stated, Canada has stated numerous times that he adapts his offense to the skillset of his players. He doesn't have a predetermined system, which is what I like about him. Whichever QB we go with, he'll tailor the offense to fit his skills.

I understand that but certainly he has an ideal skill set in mind for his QB. Hard to believe we could run a true pro style with drop back passer or wide open run/pass option style depending who's in the game.

That's a wide spectrum.

Everyone's ideal skill set is a QB that can throw like Manning and Run like Vick.

It just normally doesn't happen like that.

I believe what he wants is an accurate passer. Somebody who can hit a receiver in the hands, whether the QB is in the pocket or on the move.

Our current crop struggles with this most basic skill. Brandon Harris was pitiful at it. Etling is good at it only occasionally. I haven't seen the others in action, but I understand a couple of them have a hard time hitting the side of a barn.

I hear ya. I'm sure he has a preference, but I think it's part of his job to mask deficiencies of whatever QB we go with. He'd probably like the dude to be 6'5" 225 with an accurate cannon and can scramble like Mike Vick.. but we don't have any of those guys.

I see what you're saying though. They mentioned it briefly in the spring game about using a two QB system, but we all know how that's worked in the past. I would be okay with certain packages for a DT QB, for example. I just want it to be clear that there's THE guy, and just packages for the other(s). I don't want a full multi-QB system. I think that messes with their head.

And lets not forget that Canada has zero of his QB recruits signed up right now. I'm hopeful that Danny will perform better after the surgery and thrive under Canada, but lets remember that our new OC is working with Les QB's.

Strong, accurate arm...everything falls into place after that.

We have to throw the ball downfield with accuracy. We must be able to convert key 3rd and 5-8 yd down and distances to move the chains, win the TOP/field pos stat (rest DEF), and FINISH drives with points.

Give me the qb who can do that, with the poise to run our OFF by getting the OFF play in, team lined-up to execute, and ball to our play-makers....and we'll have a very successful season.

While his system adapts to players strengths, I think timing will always be important. If a QB can't throw the timing routes, they're going to struggle.

The best chance to win is to have a pro style QB unless you have a beast of a man playing like Cam Newton.

Doesn't dual threat and hybrid kindof mean the same thing?

Is there any doubt Canada would have offered Narcisse and Brennan? I think he would. The great thing is both will be coached by Canada from the beginning and not polluted by Miles and Cameron.

In the past, a two QB system gave us 11-2 in 2010 with a Cotton Bowl win vs. aTm. 2011 we technically played two QBs (although vast majority not all at one time) and went undefeated in regular season. So, based on not so distant history - yeah two QBs can work:).
