football coach?

That's my biggest worry, is he capable?
Pretty sad to think you had guys like Fisher, Muschamp, Pelini, Smart, etc. come through this program and nothing was done with those guys.

His one hire is Trent Johnson, was that a bad hire?
Were you worried when it was Skip in charge of the hiring? What qualifications did he have to hire a football coach?

Two previous football hires ... Carl Franks and Ted Roof. Tell me why you would want Alleva in charge of hiring a new coach.

It's not like he'd be all alone on hiring a coach if we have to make a change. He'd be a part of a group of people who make that decision including the chancellor, some board of supervisors folks, some TAF folks, maybe even Lombardi.

That's what I was thinking. What more could we have done with them? Two of them are head coaches at major programs now, another one is head-coach-in-waiting at another major program. While they were here, they played major roles in winning two national championships. Sounds like a lot was done with them.

I have not heard any news of Miles being fired. Why are we talking about this?

I hope Miles is so successful he gets to retire on his own terms, around 2020.

I don't follow our basketball very closely but from what I've seen I like TJ.

No shite how can anyone hire worse than Skip did with Smoke?

I'm assuming he wasn't all alone when hiring the basketball coach either. It's his brain trust I would be concerned about.

Those ADs don't know crap about who is good or bad as far as coaching. They hire a search firm to find the best guy. I'd be more worried about who runs the search firm than I would about the figurehead that dots the i's and crosses he t's.

You mean the same guy that people were ready to run the frick out of this town in '05 & '06? That should be awesome.

Ya wanna fire Alleva, so you can fire Miles?
Ya wanna keep Miles soley b/c of Alleva?
What's the point?:
Or are you just handwringing...?

I would think TAF would have some input since they raise so much money for the program. I think someone posted at the end of last season that they spoke with a higher up in TAF who hinted that they had a great plan should it come to a replacement. Glad to know they're thinking ahead if true.

Yes, now that people have seen the result of him not being here, '05-'06 don't necessarily look that bad. IMO Pelini was the asst. head coach (and in some cases the head coach) during that time. Miles was some sort of background figurehead.

It actually would be pretty awesome.
