That decides to make it a career?

He obviously loves coaching defense but watching him at NE he might not enjoy everything that comes w being a HC.

Even heard a Ohio reporter talk about how he doesn't like to talk to media or public speaking or even being in the community .

I'm betting bo is done as a HC

I think He probably doesn’t have the best reputation as a HC.

I could Easily see him being a career DC

Especially at the salary we are paying him.

He seems to hate recruiting and PR stuff. But that would be balanced out with Coach O who loves it. Pretty sure that's covered in the binder.

binder

This was a huge source of ridicule for Coach O on this board after his hire. Has the binder proven to be OK now that he won a Natty? Just curious.

He could have a spiral bound notebook or a Big Chief writing tablet and I would be fine with it!

The binder is sacred until we allow a first down or do not score within the first 3 plays of the opening game

I think it was proved to be a sham. Coach o said he didn't even know what was in it and the assistant to the regional manager guy made it.

This is not true. A P5 Coach that can deliver nothing but 9-10 win seasons is above average. Going to the National Championship game at Youngstown is above average. Despite the lackluster last 2 years, Youngstown extended his contract.

I agree.

Pelini is a passionate guy with an explosive personality. This is great in a DC. But crossing the administration, fan base, and sports writers has potential negative consequences for HCs.

The DC position diminishes the down and increases the up sides to these traits. Defending your players against all comers increases loyalty and emotional inspiration is particularly useful on defense.

His age and past experience has possibly diminished his aspirations of another HC position like Aranda rightfully had. Combine that with great pay and I see him a long term DC as long as successful.

Let’s hope everything I just wrote is true.

I think that was a strong selling point on his hire. They want stability at that position. Part of the reason Pelini took the Youngstown St job was to have family stability. If he's successful here I can see him staying in Baton Rouge for a long time.

Nebraska would kill for the level of success he had there right now

I'd love to be top DC making over 2 million and not having to deal with all of the media and boosters. Sounds like a sweet gig to me.

We built this narrative for 4 years with Aranda, and we’re gonna fall in the same trap immediately afterwards?

I thought when Pelini took the Nebraska job that he would fail in the same ways Mike Archer did here. Both are darn good DCs, but not good recruiters, are not personable with families or the media, and would have a lot of growing pains learning about the breadth of HC duties.

Pelini actually did better than I expected at Nebraska.

I think he should stay a career DC at this point. Archer never got another HC opportunity and for good reason.

If his defenses are successful, he will be gone in two or three years.

Well, since he was recorded calling his last P5 AD a "pussy" (and a See You Next Tuesday), it is unlikely he will get another HC chance at that level for the foreseeable future. So, his options are:

1. Stay at a small school as HC (he obviously did this, but decided to move back up), or

2. Be a DC at a P5 school or NFL team

He's not going to make 7 figures doing anything else I can imagine.

Coach O defiantly had a plan when he became HC.
He developed a painstaking comprehensive analysis
of what he envisioned to get us back to the top.
“The Binder” was not a joke as many made fun of him. He executed his plan! A lot of time, blood & sweat has brought LSU football back. Congratulations Coach O — I can’t wait for next year. Geaux Tigers
