I hate excuses for this. Burrow and this team is talented enough to do better. We could have lost to auburn, we played like garbage against SEU, Latech, and Florida. I'm stoked we won all but the Florida and Bama games. But attitudes like yours is why we will never get over the hump. We played a complete game VS Georgia and beat the brakes off of them. If you truly believe we do not need to upgrade the offense then expect your mediocrity. Burrow is way more talented than over half of the SEC qbs. It's the system holding him back, I will also say not having a great rb hurts too. But we have been promised a changed offense and while it's improved a bit, they are not playing to their strengths. You don't run a play action offense when your oline gets beat by every team you face.

I hear people saying open it up. How can you go to a pass heavy offense when you cannot protect the passer and your QB is not that accurate a thrower?
Also, passing the ball is hard. The amount of processing that a receiver and a QB has to do per play takes a while to develop, more than one year unless they are just exceptional mentally.
Another factor is the limits of personnel. I know that Steve loves to run an Ace formation, (Two TEs and two flankers, one back) but he has not had two healthy TEs all year long. So he is not able to run everything that he would like to.
Our OC is good enough. No one works harder. Heck the man sleeps in his office some nights. As Burrow improves his passing and the O line improves their protection, the offense will thrive.
Alabama was an anomaly. That was the best college team that I have ever seen. No one is going to hang with Bama this year, just give them the trophy now.
By the way they are young. They will return almost their entire team for next year.

My issue with this is that Steve had the talent this year
This is simply not true.

It doesn't have to be passes, it could be running an offense that's hard to predict. Offenses that perfect the RPO are damn near impossible to stop. Canada probably would have been good this year but etling just wasn't the right guy for his style. Boundary running, fast slants, pulling guards, RPO, etc. You've got to have a qb which can run effectively but most important one that is smart enough to read defenses and execute fast plays with accuracy. Throwing deep is our problem, we do not have the O line to protect and our running backs are not elite. Next year should be better for all of our main issues and Steve Ensminger is not the answer unless the team is not as talented.

Please print out our list of offensive players and check their star ratings on 24-7.
We've got more talent than everyone else in the SEC except- Bama... maybe Georgia.
I'd say Us, Florida and Auburn and Texas A&M are fairly close if you're looking at average recruiting rankings and star ratings.
We've got talent. Plenty of it

He has enough talent this year for us to go 11 & 1. He screwed the pooch at Florida, Ben, we should've never been in a 1-score game with them. We were 10+ better than that scroungy bunch.

Didn't we just go through this with Miles? No, I do not think we'll get a new OC until the next time we hire a head coach. Unless SE steps down that is, which I don't see happening.

Burrow Jefferson, Dee Anderson, stephan Sullivan, the two 5 star freshman receivers, brossette was serviceable and CEH is deadly in space on quick check downs/screens. We played extremely conservative in the red zone because we have a Kicker who is deadly accurate.
LSU currently has the athletes to make plays in the open but we don't run anything giving them a chance to run after catching. It seems we are so scared of a turnover that we live on the sidelines.
I also ask this because the athletes should be better next year. If a 5 start rb comes in, he should be a plug and play....other than that the receivers are extremely talented.

Now we have talent? This is the same crew that predicted we would be 6-6 or 7-5 this year.
Admit it. This coaching staff has done a really good job this year!

O was shrewd enough to hire the best OC in the business. AND he got him for a discount.

I can promise you that I never expected 6 - 6, or worse. I knew the team was talented and extremely underrated. We would have been bad without burrow. I just can't understand this mentality. This is one of the best defensive units in years at lsu. We held that high octane Bama offense to 29 and they had some circus catches, Tua statistically played about half as good as he has in other games.....which sadly is better than our qb. The defense gave us a shot even after being on the field way too long. I will not accept this, this team is way too talented to lose the Florida game, struggle with SEU, and get shut out at home VS bama. I guess I would have felt better with a made field goal and a late td. My problem is we have looked unbeatable this year (Georgia) and we've looked like scrubs in several others. That is strictly on coaching.

Are you going to sit here and argue that the offensive line is doing a good job with good depth? I fricking hope so. I don't care how many stars they have the offensive line isn't cutting it.
Posted on 11/9/18 at 9:18 pm to bencoleman
I will say that LSU has good enough talent to not have an offense in the hundreds and to have been shut out by Bama twice with the same OC.

You've been bitching about the offense for a week. You don't want to admit that the offensive line isn't as good as it needs to be because that takes some of the blame of off Steve. How fricking pathetic is that?

Only if E decides to hang it up. If he wants to be back, he’ll be back. That’s just the facts.
