His special teams play was poor, his DB play was average.

"McLEEROY made several perfect throws to Julio. Nothing anyone could have done about those. PP7 was right there and made quick tackles."

This.

PP7 made quick tackles. Only mistake was getting beat by Maze and having to interfere. At least he interfered enough to make him drop the pass.....barely.

PP had good coverage on most of the plays,qb made real good throws and julio made so good catches. The difference in this game was we shut down Maze, he is the real difference maker.

I agree with the posts about McElroy. He really earned my respect yesterday (as if he cares). He was the difference in that game for Bama in that if he hadn't played as great as he did in the second half, Bama would have been absolute toast. Julio was very good too, but McElroy was really putting the ball where it needed to be and expertly avoiding the pressure at times.

PP showed Trent Richardson who supposedly benches 650 lbs what a man was on 3rd and 1.........Trent didn't play again after the tackle.

PP played the game as a leader is suppose to play with young CBS filling in cause of injury.

Yall people are too stat oriented. The results are more than adequate for a WR targeted almost 20 times. 10 for 89 and a garbage TD.

this

Some of the rantards who expect our cornerback to win every game for us are ridiculous. His return game wasnt great yesterday but his covering was really good. He wasnt on Jones for all those completions and most of jones catches against him were pretty much indefensible. If he doesnt get tripped up on the Maze pass interference call he probably breaks up the pass w/o interfering.

eta: and where are all the rantards who says PP cant tackle...fools.

The much-ballyhooed matchup between Alabama WR Julio Jones and LSU CB Patrick Peterson didn't disappoint. Jones was able to come away with six catches and a touchdown against Peterson but managed just 51 receiving yards. And six of those yards came on a short pass in which fellow Bama wideout Darius Hanks ran interference for Jones and Peterson had no chance to make a play.

I agree with this.

Total bullshite!!

For the most part Jones only caught balls that were undefendable. Outside shoulder fades, certain jumps. Jones and Peterson were about even. Sometimes Petsorson won on the play, sometimes Jones and McElroy. You can't win every play. However, Jones did not extensively burn us all night long. I'd say it was a battle which was pretty much a draw, which is better than anyone else could have done and I will take any day.

8 tackles 3 breakups, the main guy he covered 89 yards on 17 throw toss, that is like 5.4 yards per attempt.

JJ was 5.6 yards per attempt before the Bama game.

So now, how effective was he again?

I agree with you, Jones caught some balls but it was mostly stuff under 10 yds and the one where Jones ran across the field through traffic was designed pick which is almost impossible to defend in man coverage.

No, I don't think he had a bad game and Julio is da man and all that shite is shite, it was largely due to McElroy's improvement on throwin, throwin over Julio's back shoulder where only he could catch it and most of the nite pinpoint passin that any great CB would have had trouble stopping because PP had him blanketed once again!

on the TD toss as soon as Julio cut he threw it high and soon, PP who immediately recovered could not stop a pass that soon and high where only the WR could catch it, just great throwing by McElroy was the difference this time around! but even with that the Mad Hatter still kicked their asses!

I feel sorry for anyone who couldn't see how well PP had Julio covered, go back and watch all 6 passes Julio caught against Peterson and where he was when the pass was caught, as well as the location of the pass, how perfect they all were. Then go watch one of the passes Julio caught on Claiborne on the out route, Claiborne wasn't even close. After that play they put PP7 back on Julio the rest of the game.
Someone please tell me where else that ball could've been thrown for a TD to julio...please tell me

He should have fielded/fair caught at least two balls that he let bounce. Once he let bounce to the three yard line 2 minutes before halftime and the other could've been fair caught around the 13 and was downed at the 6. Even if he didn't have a bad game guarding Julio or anyone else, he didn't have his head right on the return game.

one of those passes he knocked away, but the other passes were money, and as soon as Claiborne got spent around like a Top, he probably told PP he's yours man!

He also got called for pass interference that was for 15 yards. He didn't have a great game and he will be the first to admit it.
