me·di·o·cre
?mede'ok?r/Submit
adjective
of only moderate quality; not very good.
"a mediocre actor"
synonyms: ordinary, average, middling, middle-of-the-road, uninspired, undistinguished, indifferent, unexceptional, unexciting, unremarkable, run-of-the-mill, pedestrian, prosaic, lackluster, forgettable, amateur, amateurish;

There are 128 FBS football teams. We are ranked 21 or 23 depending on the poll. Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU are the only SEC teams to finish the regular season ranked in the top 25. We are the 4th or 5th best team this year in the SEC (out of 14). "Mediocre" may apply to where we sit the in SEC west, but no one in the division has a record below .500 and all 7 teams are going to a bowl.

There was disappointment this year and room for improvement moving forward, but the terms "mediocre" and "terrible" to not describe our LSU Tigers.

LSU isn't mediocre overall. They are however middle of the pack in conference and LSU is a school that can and should be elite. So compared to all of CFB, no LSU isn't. Compared to what is expected, LSU is

You're typically judged by your ranking amongst your peers, which means we are judged by our standing versus other SEC West schools. By that standard, we have been mediocre the last two years.

All of these things could describe us the last 4 games. Mediocre is getting your arse kicked by Arkansas by 17 two years in a row and getting your arse kicked by every team in the SEC west with exception of A&M. I'm talking about us getting dominated by Auburn, MSU, Arkansas,Alabama, and Ole Miss the last 2 years. If that isn't mediocre then what is?

I think that's a little short-sighted considering the composition of the SEC West compared to the rest of college football. Maybe that's part of the reason so many people are down on LSU this year (and last year). The level of talent that we face week in and week out is so good our fan base has a distorted view of the actual level of our program.

Saying LSU is mediocre the last 4 games is actually putting it quite nicely

It's relative, and it's all about actual results vs possible results.

Was Memphis a rent a loss for Ole Miss?
Or Toledo for Arkansas?

We need to down grade our facilities and coaches need to give back half of thier salary then. You can't have it both ways.

Is passing offense the end all be all measure of the success of LSU football?

Highest paid staff in the CFB = outside top 25 last year, snapshot right now Top 21-23.

Let's move past mediocre and define "value".

7th highest paid coach. Finished in top 7 once in since 2008.

Don't have a problem with Lesslie staying if he becomes the 14th-16th highest paid coach, somewhere around our average finish.

He can even donate the extra salary to Academics

I get where you guys are coming but atleast get your facts right.

The money shouldn't be an issue to a single one of you. Considering what everyone wanted to go down.
