as big as witten or barbier's hr's in 2000
This.
DJ's might have even been a little bit bigger, since it happened in the 9th with 2 outs and those in 2000 didn't.
But then you have to take in consideration that it was the national title game in 2000, and LSU wasn't facing elimination this time.
But you can put it right there with Witten's homerun.

Certainly not lost on me ... DJ's game-tying double was one of my Top5 favorite LSU sports moments of all time. I was standing right there in the left field foul pole corner, it was un-frickin-believable to get such a huge hit with two outs in the biggest ballgame of the year. If we don't get that hit, I think Texas is probably the national champions today.
No offense to Mitchell, but I thought DJ should have been MVP of the CWS.

I agree, not lost on me, that has to rank as one of the most clutch moments in LSU sports history, huge hit.

I agree that DJ should have been MVP. But the way the announcers were on JM, DJ never stood a chance. JM is sooooooo fast that if he gets 10 more reps he will be enshrined in the MLB Hall of Fame his rookie year.

I love how people try to make their point about someone by slamming another player. I agree with DJ as MVP, but Jared did enough to warrant it also. He had a huge double with 2 out against Wood in Game 1 to get LSU in the game. I think you guys are more worried about it than D J.

i'm not arguing either one should or shouldn't be mvp, i could care less, i'm just surprised at the lack of posts about the huge hit really, i think in years to come when people watch highlights of this championship, DJ's hit will be just another highlight, when it should probably be up there with Cresse's hit

I was refering to Good Times above my post.

IMO DJ was the MVP of the series

I think the answer to your question can be found in the title of your thread.
Game tying hits will never be remembered as well as game winning hits.
Everyone remembers Chris Burke's 18th inning shot to beat the Braves in the playoffs, but does anyone remember light hitting Brad Ausmus' two out bottom of the ninth homer to send the game to extra innings?
As far as Lemahieu is concerned, what about his steal of second and subsequent move to third that allowed Mahtook's single to score the winning run in that game?
How about Mitchell's plate patience to lead off the fifth in game 3 after the Texas tie in the bottom of the fourth. Down in the count, he works a walk and moves to second on a passed ball to score on Mahtook's double.
There's many little pieces that are arguably as important as the next in every big game.

i know there are plenty of things that happened to help LSU win the game, but the difference is that the Lemahieu hit was when LSU was down to the last out of the game, the moment was much bigger at the time then the others.

DJ
the hit was huge but so was his play the entire season. i also thought he was going to be named mvp. not to take anything away from JMitch but i thought it was DJ.

Individual honors are important, but I don't think any of the players feel shorted because they did not get MVP. These guys are about team and how their collective effort contributed to the title.

DJ's throw out from his knees might have been as big as his hit in Gm. 1.
naw, that was a great play but DJ's hit was one of the top 5 hits in lsu history probably.

you are really starting to piss me off, you bring that up constantly, but you don't find it weird that no one agrees with you?

Being an astros fan, I can say that you hit the nail on the head here! Good thing it didn't take LSU 18 innings to win game 1 though!
I think the White Sox paid ESPN to make JM the MVP
