As a Les fan until the bitter end, I always understood the criticism while recognizing how great he was in so many other ways. Last night was a perfect example of how we played under Les thru Guice's second TD. At that point it was 24-10 and Les would have literally slammed the brakes and maybe not have passed another down. It was why we had games like EMU last year.

But last night, it was precisely at this moment that O and Ensminger really opened up. I think Etling had 200 of his 276 after that point. And while under Les we would have won 31-13 or something like that, it's not so much the result as it is getting Danny feeling so much more confident and getting Malachi and Dural involved when they really hadn't done anything to that point.

We are in a great position mentally entering the meat of the schedule. I look forward to the next six weeks.

I loved seeing us air it out after getting up by 14. O dropped the hammer on them, no way in hell miles is working on the passing game with 8 mins left in a game.

I've been screaming for a play action bomb after a turn over for YEARS!!!! I was liberating to finally see it happen

There certainly appeared to be a lack of killer instinct in the past. We also rarely seemed to capitalize on turn overs. Jamal Adams was quoted in the Advocate saying it was nice to see the offense socre after the defense got a turn over. That really is how you put opponents away.

I'm rewatching the game right now, and I was coming to post the same thing...

We are up 38-10, and 7 mins left, and we are still throwing the ball and doing different stuff on offense...love it

Exactly: experience=confidence=success in big games. If you don't do it in little games you can't in big ones!

step on a team's throat and stay on it

even the most staunch Les lover had to like the change

The play fake on Guices 2nd touchdown was very effective. Had the defense guessing and by the time they knew what was up he was already closing in on the end zone.

O showing what he learned from da U in its hey day. It was a factory that used blow out games as practice.

I've said this should be done for years

yeah it was refreshing to see this team play with some fricking balls in the second half, unlike what we saw under dumb and dumber.

It also gives Etling and receivers more reps. It helps them feel more confident with game time experience.

I sit on the East side, so I always have a good look at the visitor's team sideline. Once we hit those back to back bombs that team was done. All the towel waving was over, the bouncing up and done gone. That was the part of the game that Les just didn't understand. You let that team stay at 24-10 or 27-10 for a while, they will keep fighting. Then you have one busted play, its 24-17 and now you're in a dog fight.

Just wait for Choctaw to come and tell you that the reps that Danny and the wide receivers got during those last 200 yards passing in game time situation was useless and that the real practice is done during the week against Aranda's first team defense in practice.

Gordy said on the radio that they were basically doing that in the 4th. Said the passing game needed confidence before Ole Miss, so the coaches were giving it to them by letting them toss the ball around.

Exactly. Everybody has them. And we wouldn't be all euphoric about it if Danny had thrown a couple more picks and the game was in doubt in the fourth. We'd be bitching about how crazy it was that we weren't pounding the rock with Guice and Williams. And Les had been burned by that thing in the past. He let past issues impact his current decision making. That was his biggest flaw.
