I get what you are saying, but if I am NC State I pitch my #3 guy in Friday game. Get the win and Rodon can start Game 1 of championship series. Lose Rodon throws on Saturday then again in Game 3 of Championship series.

If NC State follows that logic you throw Nola against Rodon.

I think there is a very good chance BOTH brackets are won by a team with a loss. MSU or NCSU may get to Friday without a loss but I think if they do they will get beat then.

We win tomorrow I predict we get to stomp the Bruins Wednesday.

I'm not to worried, there are to many weapons on this team to just fold up. It won't be easy, but this team can and will get it done.

LSU baseball doesn't do two things:

1) Doesn't win any regional/super regional away from home.

2) Doesn't win CWS if lose before championship round.
except that they've done both before.

93 I think we lost to Long Beach State and won, but I think we were in the winners bracket and were taken to an extra game, so technically no.

Only 3 teams have done it. 2 more recently, so don't know who the other is. Oregon st in 2006 and USCe in 2010.

the only way we can make it back is if ucla beats ncst, we knock off unc, and get ncst's third guy vs our third. If we have to beat ncst twice with one of those being Rodon, in that park, forget it.

Wow, we should just forfeit tomorrow night's game, we don't stand a chance....

I rather Rodon vs Nola than that guy last night that was able to consistently throw that high stuff. We hit the so named "stopper of the year". Bring on Rodon--I doubt he is any better than the pitchers we have seen playing Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

I would love to get after their number two guy Saturday after beating them Friday.

In 1993 we lost to Long Beach St but that was sandwiched by two victories, so it wasn't really the loser's bracket. That year was the only year we lost a game and still won it all, save for the 2009 Championship Series against UT.

It's possible but not likely, realistically. This has a very Clemson-esq feeling to me.

I looked through past brackets back to 2000 and only saw one team that came out the loser's bracket. Oregon State in 2006.

Losing one game of a double elimination is not the same as being in the loser's bracket.

LSU has never done it.

ETA and USC in 2010.

I don't think we ever went very far beyond a 1st game loss.

Did you miss USCe in 2010? Lost opener, I believe to Oklahoma, had to play #1 AZ State in losers bracket. Made it all the way through, and beat Clemson twice, to get a shot at UCLA for the title, which the 'Cocks took in straight games! Fantastic baseball, hope the Tigers can do it in 2013!

In recent years...

best shot was 1989 when we lost opening round to Miami...cam back and beat LBSU and Miami again. Texas hammered Big Ben.

2008 was the only other year we opened with a loss and at least won one game. '94, '03, '04 = 2 and bbq.

So answer is a BIG NO.

1989. None since then including Tulane and Rice and of course Jackie Robinson Tee Ball Park in L.A.

1993.

Although OP is wrong, there sure isn't much other evidence. All other NC games before the last one were swept through without a loss.

The good news is that we are still likely the overall strongest team on our side of the bracket; bad news is that we are facing a strong opponent with a pitcher who has not seen the mound in weeks.

I also think people should remember how close we have come to elimination in our own regionals in those "golden years." The only CWS c'ship teams that went completely unscathed in postseason play (regionals and beyond) were '91, '96, and '00.

not getting ahead here, we have a tough enough task making it through this bracket, but that would be huge if we do.
