Seems that we did but I don't recall what year. One of the late 90s championships. I know it's not easy but it's not impossible!

Right, but we didn't have to play more than one elimination game like we will have to this year.

It's a tough road, but 4 teams in the new format era has lost one of its first two games and made it to the championship round. It's doable, but certainly not easy.

Lets just hope we don't face Rodon without Nola on the mound for us.

In 93 LSU was in the "have to beat us twice position". LSU was 2-0 and Long Beach was 1-1 LB won the first game then LSU won the second to make it to the championship game.

All other championship years LSU has not lost a game except for game 2 of championship series vs Texas in 2009.

the only way we can make it back is if ucla beats ncst, we knock off unc, and get ncst's third guy vs our third. If we have to beat ncst twice with one of those being Rodon, in that park, forget it.

correct on the '93 account.

That 1993 year it was W-W-L-W, then the title game.

This year it'd have to be L-W-W-W-W, then title game.

See the diff? One more game to play just to get out of the bracket.

Plus, in '93 we won with our ace(s). This year, we've lost with our only true ace already.

.

If NC State wins tomorrow they have a game to play with so they save Rodon till the Saturday game. That is when Nola would pitch also. Don't see Nola coming back before then.

Yes technically it was an elimination game. My point was that LSU did not come out of the losers bracket that year.

Correct. I also remember 1998-- LSU beat USC to open the series and won the next game. LSU was in the driver's seat, but USC came back through the loser's bracket and beat us twice to advance to the championship game. No doubt had we beaten USC in one of those two games, we would have won it all. So it can be done. Just very difficult to do it.

No. LSU baseball doesn't do two things:

1) Doesn't win any regional/super regional away from home.

2) Doesn't win CWS if lose before championship round.

I don't know about that. If you wait to pitch them on Saturday, both would be unlikely to pitch in the championship round. Maybe they could throw on Wednesday off of 3 days rest, but they certainly would be limited. Throwing them on Friday gets you an extra day of rest.

I'm going with Nola on Friday if we get that far.

Amen.

I remember 98 when we beat Satan's Children in game one, won the second game and then played Satan's Children. They came out of the losers bracket and beat us twice then beat Arizona State for the NC.
