Did playing only 3 WR's in MSU game cut out pre snap problems?

We seemed to have been plagued in many games in the past by pre snap alignment penalties and alignment confusion that cost us time outs or delay of game penalties. Do you think playing only the 3 guys was done to try and reduce those problems? If so it sure seemed to work!

They were decoys for the 1or 2 MSU players not defending against the run all night.

I think that the running back rotation was the key. Not rotating them every other play gave the team a chance to get into a rythm.
