We just got our arse handed to us. He didn't run up the score. But Meyer is still a major douche.

I got into this arguement with a friend of mine. I don't think they ran it up, but my friend says he did. What say you?

LSU should have stopped them if they took issue with the scoring.

I've got no issue with what they did other than it seemed risky to have their starters in that long

We got torched and deserved every bit of the torching. Espcially Jai and the others who jacked with Urban after the NC game...

They pretty much ran the same play over and over again in the last 5 minutes. Its our fault since we couldn't stop it.

Yeah I'm sure Urban was looking for vengeance agaisnt Jai for rubbing his hair after we won the NC.

I don't believe in that "running up the score" shite. Don't we do that against incompetent opponents also. If we had a solid "D" thay would not have run it up.

Get over it, the whole idea is to score the most points. After LSU came back to win it sooo many times last year do you really think anybody in their right mind would risk letting up?

Yes,
Better question is WHY did he run up the score?

1. Style points for the polls
2. Revenge for last year
3. To make a point to RJF and his hommies
4. To satisfy his teams embarrassment for losing to Ole Miss
5. Because Urban Meyer is not really the person everyone thinks he is- he lives in Spurrier's shadow at FL like Les lives in Nicks

They didn't run up the score... LSU did, by not stopping them.

In reversed circumstances, we would have done the same thing. Can't tell guys to fall down. Our defense didn't play well most of the night, and had even less near the end to make it easier for them, partly due to a ineffective offense / no running game. We just have to get better on both sides, including playing and coaching.

No, he didn't. They were just getting it done, that's all. The D wasn't stopping them at the start of the game either. Meyer didn't need to "run it up" but he did need to close it out.

For you younguns let me bring back a little history. It's 1983, the opening game of the season and the rematch after LSU beat Florida State 55-21 in Death Valley. This time FSU pulled even at 14-14 on a controversial TD on the final play of the first half, but the 3rd quarter was all Seminoles and they led 40-14 late in the 4th until the Tigers scored after a lengthy drive to make it 40-21 with something like 5-6 minutes left in the game.

Of course, LSU did an onside kick and recovered. And scored a TD in seconds to make it 40-28.

Another onside kick, another recovery. LSU scores in about half a minute. 40-35. Suddenly it's a game. The crowd is standing up. FSU had just barely beaten East Carolina the week before by something like 47-45 or thereabouts, the thinking was that they were vulnerable this time.

Another onside kick with about a minute left. Sadly, FSU got that one and ran it out.

Point being, if you're on top of a dangerous rival you finish it. That isn't running up the score, it's just taking care of business. LSU started to make a game of it right after the half, Meyer can't be faulted for being careful.
