Did ESPN just say Alabama should be #1 tomorrow?

I have ESPN on in the background and heard the anchor say something like "those teams are expected to flip flop when the poll comes out tomorrow" and so I glance at the screen and the headline reads something like "projected BCS rankings" and I could have sworn when I glanced ESPN's "projected poll" had Alabama at #1 and LSU at #2.

The screen changed really fast so I could be completely wrong. Did anybody else see?

Things were so close in the first release, they are basing the drop on the WV loss to Syracuse.

Didn't hear it, but don't doubt they'll say that. They want to hype this game up as much as possible. Creating "controversies" is one way.

We are about to hand Bama their worst SEC loss under Saban.

I know nothing about Brad Edwards, but who really cares. As long as we are 1 or 2 when we light up Bama.

Umm, no. LSU destroyed a ranked team today. Bama destroyed a shitty team at home. How could you make a argument with them at #1? LSU doesn't move.

That still leaves LSU with 4 other ranked wins compared to Alabama's 3.

I don't get how Alabama was so close in the first place.

Not only did LSU have more wins against ranked teams, most of those wins were away, and they were all double-digit wins.

This just in OKLAHOMA is still number 1 in the Coaches Poll and Brad Edwards still believes that the BIG 12(-2) has the toughest conference!
But as said before. Who cares? We get our shot in 2 weeks!

I'm guessing the reason are WV los, Penn St and Ark win, Bama will pick up some of OU's votes

Also, wouldn't the WVU loss just get cancelled out because LSU picked up a win against another ranked opponent?

They were already ahead of Alabama last week with 4 ranked wins. Now this week, although WVU doesn't look as strong as they did, LSU picked up another ranked win that should make up for WVU.

Plus, Alabama didn't play anybody good this week.

So the idea that Alabama should jump LSU because WVU lost doesn't make any sense.

Barn will drop off the polls, the margin between us and Bama was so small that WV dropping in polls might be a big difference and Bama was higher in st of the computers going in.

Again I'm no expert, just my guess and I hope we are in the top spot.

For those who are unaware, Brad Edwards is from Jackson, MS and is an Alabama graduate, though I doubt it has anything to do with his projections. Reese Davis is also a Bama graduate, though I think he does a good job of being impartial.

I agree that I want them to jump us. I want our players to feel like Bama took something from them, and they want it back.

We still play the BCS #1/2 depending on the ranking tomorrow and arky (BCS #7-9) so we will be #1 at the end and will destroy BSU or clemson whoever comes calling in new orleans.

maybe BMS could stop up but I doubt it.

Since you answered it last night thought i'd put it here for everyone to read.

3 Components: Coach's poll, Harris poll, and Computer average.

For the people polls, they take the highest possible score (that is every voter voting a single team #1) and then represents each team as a percentage of that max value. This is how it factors in how close (or how far) a team is ranked from one another. It is NOT a uniform spacing based on rank.

The Computer component is made up of six computer polls, that looks at things such as SOS (but NOT margin of victory, simply wins and against whom...blow outs against quality competition is not reflected).

The highest and the lowest scores are thrown out, and the remaining 4 computer scores are added up (with a #1 rank being worth 25 points) and then divided by 100, resulting in a percentage similar to what was obtained from the people polls.

The percentages from the people's poll, and the percentage from the computer polls, are all averaged together and the resulting percentage is what determines BCS rank.
