Did Anybody Else Have Trouble Picking Up CBS??

We were all set to watch the Bama/Tennessee game Saturday at our tailgate. After having trouble at Florida game picking up CBS, went by Radio Shack...who hooked us up with an antenna with amplification for our digital TV. Picked up every network channel EXCEPT CBS! Anybody have a clue?

I have an amplified multi-directional antenna that I got from Best Buy. At home in Prairieville, I cannot pick up CBS. At TS, it comes in crystal clear. I can get all other locals at TS as well but only FOX and NBC in Prairieville. I am as confused as you are. I paid about $70 for this antenna and still do not feel I pick up what I should, but since I can get CBS at TS I'm good.

I have an HD antennae from RadioShack. It's alright, I get CBS, NBC, FOX, and ABC in HD. The thing is, usually I don't get every channel crystal clear at once. I may be watching NBC and it's great, then I switch to CBS and I have to adjust the antennae to receive a good picture. Then I may switch to ABC and have to adjust it again. I'm in nyc, but I have the most trouble with CBS and ABC.

WAFB has the weakest transmitter in town by far.

We had the same problem - we would move the antennae and re-scan the channels and everytime we picked up different channels, but never 9 - finally we gave up. The nice guy next to us noticed the t.v. just sitting there and asked what what the problem was, told him we couldn't get 9 and he busted out an antenae from his truck and hooked us up - came in fine with his.

huh, these are digital HD antennas. They are phasing out the analog shite.

CBS signal is poor. Even before digital and having to use rabbit ears on an analog tv WAFB had by far the worst reception of any station. It took me a half hour to get a signal last weekend. I have a HD tv with an amplified antenna I got from Wal Mart. I probably auto-scanned 7 or 8 times before it locked in and then I had to keep moving the antenna around to find a spot it would get a consisten signal. And then it would ocassionally got out.

Mine is a digital HD antenna as well. When working I pick up channels such as 9.1, 9.2, 44.1,44.2, 2.1,2.2 etc. I have heard something about the channel 9 signal though, which probably explains why I can get it at TS but not in Prairieville.

That's what happened to us! We scanned and re-scanned, moved the antenna around to all different sides of tents but could never get 9 or 9.1. WE did pick up WAFB Weather Channel! LOL!

I had all of the above problems every Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Last Saturday I raised my antenna above the tent frame with PVC and it was much better. It still took about 5 or 6 rescans and directional position changes. It (WAFB channel 9) finally came in pretty solid with just a couple of fades later in the day. I think my antenna was about 10 feet in the air at the top of the PVC. This higher antenna really helped signal strength. We got a total of 19 channels on the last scan.
I am a former TV Broadcast Engineer and I find this is simply amazing how difficult it is for anyone to pick up the digital signals. The local TV channels management must be pulling their hair out about this "better idea" by big brother!

This is a better idea, HD over the air! hell yea! The problem is that WAFB don't want to spend money on a super powerful transmitter!

Thanks! Makes sense...guess I won't take my antenna back. We'll give this a try this weekend. The best we were able to get was 9 channels with it attached to the tent.

WAFB's transmitter's power is 5.57 kilowatts. WBRZ is 30. I'm no expert, but I doubt WBRZ has a transmitter 6 times more powerful than it needs.

Here is the bomb.
Antenna Web
type in 70820 for the zip code, put in the remainder of the address if you know it to be more specific. A list of all the area TV stations will appear, select "digital filter" if you choose and then follow the instructions.
you may have to get your antenna up in the air. We have a channel Master with amplifier up on a 10 foot pole tie-wrapped to the tent poles. We can easily spin it as required to pick-up everything.

Worked great at the Auburn game. The people at solid signal are great. Tell them what you need and they will help you out.

My CBS affiliate is out of Dothan Alabama, and the signal here is horrible as well. CBS Sucks.

I'm having the same trouble south of Lafayette. The signal was great last year in HD and now I cannot even catch regular CBS (I usually just use CBS-HD for sports). I don't think it's the antannae or TV as I catch NBC, FOX and ABC all in HD
