Most concerning facet of the game tonight.... we have GOT to cut down on stupid and untimely penalties.

Bottom line:

They had 280 yards AT Bama.

They had 240 yards at home against us.

I'll take that everday.

As I said earlier in the week. I like our defense better than Bama's.

Omg. Seriously, the sane exact thing could be said about UF. The d got tired cus the offense couldn't sustain drives.

Yet we are 6-0 while the better coach is 4-2 and out if the hunt.

Shut up and watch this defense with three future 1st rounders... the only weaklink is our safeties but with PP and TM, we will be in all of our games defensively

Giving up 243 yards is incredible!! Perhaps some of those yards came at the wrong time like on that last drive where Florida scored the TD, but those are damned good stats! Held them to less yards than Alabama did.

I love our D... especially when Chavis is bringing the heat! "3rd and Chavis" now means your QB is about to be in pain!

I can see at least, Montgomery, Matheiu, and Mingo being future 1st rounders in addition to Nevis, Sheppard, and Peterson.

How many sacks did the defense get tonight?

Oh yeah, they shredded us. It's just that if OUR defense gives up 243, we think it's a lot. If you AVERAGE giving up 243 for the year, you probably lead the nation in total defense.

don't know which game you were watching, man, but to hold Florida to 243 in the Swamp....what do you expect?

the 243yards is kind of deceiving. UF had a short field a couple of times

true, but the flip side of that is that they had the short field because of turnovers that could've easily been avoided. Take out the two TO's and they don't have those easy scoring opportunities.

People fixate on the low yardage, but that is attributable in part to the short fields Florida had. Moreover, the defense gave up the long drive to allow Florida to take the lead in the fourth quarter.

No one said that defense played horribly, but it was not our best performance. We were vastly better against WVU. We gave up over 50% on third down conversions tonight, including the critical long pass on 3rd down during the last Florida drive. That is not a good stat, as even Chavis has said that he aims for a 75%-80% stop rate on 3rd down. We also looked confused against the read option at times, which could potentially hurt us against Cam Newton. Our contain defense wasn't spectacular. Our red zone defense was vulnerable, as I believe we gave up three TD's in four trips. Our pass efficiency defense wasn't great, as we allowed a 16-24 completion rate. And, of course, we gave up 21 points. Finally, we didn't get sufficient pass rush from the edges.

Have perpspective. No one is claiming the defense was poor, but it it just wasn't our best night.

On the road in the Swamp against a team that is loaded with talent and a chip on their shoulder?

I really hope this thread is a joke.

The only concerning stat there is the 6-11 on 3rd down.

I know for a fact that at least 2 of those were on stupid penalties, one was the roughing the passer and the other a BS PI that gave them a TD instead of a FG.

LSU killed themselves with Turnovers.

INT = TD for UF
Fumble = TD for UF
Kickoff return = TD

They gave up two legit drives giving up only 1 TD between the two.

3rd down and not blitzing by Chavis was the problem.

Do you realize 243 total yards a game would give you the #1 defense in the NFL?

What the frick do you expect out of the defense? Florida earned one sustained drive the entire game against our defense. Bitch more please.

For the fourth or fifth time in this thread, the low yardage totals are attributable in large part to the short fields Florida had.
