What he did in year 1, combined with the mass exodus of top flight coaches, has me convinced. Name one HC or coordinator currently in the SEC who's not named Saban who is better/more talented? I hope he's here for the long haul but unless he's a chavis type (career DC) he'll get a good head coaching offer soon. He's also the biggest reason I'm optimistic about LSU football this year.

That and let's face it, based purely on coaching talent, the SEC is 3rd or 4th in the P5 in terms of coaching.

I don't think he aspires to be a head coach, as he says he loves working with Coach Ed Orgeron but aspires to be like Coach Ensminger. I think he wants to avoid having to deal with the administration, the media, the boosters, the donors, the civic groups, the public, the high school coaches, etc. and everything else that goes with being a head football coach. I think he'd prefer to leave that to someone else like Coach O. Not to mention, that he is already being paid more than most DCs in the pros and most head coaches in college football. Hence, I think he is content and happy with his current situation and isn't looking to go anywhere.

Aranda is the man. What he did against Bama was amazing, and it's too bad we couldn't score more than 0

I don't believe for a second that he doesn't have higher aspirations. I agree that he is the second best coach in the league. I wanted him as our head coach because I didn't want to lose him to another school. We are set for coaches now but success will lead to them being courted for head coaching jobs later. I like coach O but he can only hang on to Aranda and Canada for a short time. It will be a sad day when he leaves. They will make LSU and Coach O a winner. Which will make it impossible to hire one of them and get rid of Coach O. I just hope that we can find another diamond in the rough to take their place.

Aranda is a better coach than Saban if you give them the same talent.

The President and AD are fully aware of that, barring some unforeseen event he isnt leaving LSU.

If he wanted to be HC this year, he should have been.

If the president and AD had any sense they would've offered the HC job to him before O.

I don't think he's better than Saban, that's just unrealistic. Maybe someday but Saban is going to go down as the greatest college coach of all time when he hangs it up, as much as I hate to say it.

That said, I'm taking this topic over to the SEC rant. Grab some popcorn and come on over! Should be fun!

I love Aranda and I definitely think he's one of the best coordinators around, but he did have the luxury of having a ton of experienced talent in his first year. I think this year will speak to how great of a coach he is given the inexperience at LB and DB. I expect to have some growing pains but I think this will be a top-notch unit by mid-season. Luckily the schedule sets up well for that.

Aranda is the 2nd best Defensive Coach in the SEC. I think we closed the gap on Bama as far as defense went last year but we still aren't on their talent level.

O had the relationship with the majority of high value target recruits.

Two targets neither of whom came, plan C was the course of action.

You guys are operating with the belief O will be the HC for 10 years or so, he wont be.
