“Lowell’s going to be a stud,” Etling said. “I think he has a lot of things, obviously, he needs to work on. Things that should be easy for him to work on. With coaching more and more, and more reps, he’ll get better and better. He’s done a great job of learning the offense despite not getting as many reps and he may have liked. He keeps maturing and he keeps getting better in his fundamentals.”

Expect Narcisse and Brennan to compete for LSU’s starting quarterback job in spring practice.

Etling sounds like he has a future in assistant coaching here at some capacity

I mean as something he would want. Seems to genuinely love LSU.

The competition should be fun!

I always want the best player to play regardless.

They need to bring a good QB coach on staff. Someone that will be on staff for 2-3 years.

Yep, like consistently throwing an accurate football into the hands of WR's, TE's and RB's. Until he does that in practice, he aint playing in games much.

Oh, I hear he's real athletic, has quick feet and a strong arm. (So did BH)

Yes. Narcisse' accuracy is a big question. He has struggled with it no doubt. I don't want to ever see another Brandon Harris type QB at LSU. LSU wasted years on Harris when it was very obvious that he just simply didn't have SEC talent.

So many on this board were spouting that Harris was going to turn things around at UNC under the coaching of Larry Fedora. Well, we saw what happened.

I will give Fedora credit for knowing when to give up on Harris. He did that early in the season.

Right now I am for whoever can be a
QUARTERBACK and lead the LSU offense. Based on everything I have heard from practice and listening to friends who have seen both Brennan and Narcisse, Brennan is far ahead of Narcisse in knowledge of the offense and there is no comparison between the 2 in passing ability and accuracy. Brennan leads by a large margin. Brennan is a true QB.

So are you saying that you don’t want mobile, duel threat QB’s, or just QB’s that are good. You are totally underestimating Junior. His combination of leadership, passing and athleticism makes him a contender for the starting job next year. Breenon does not have this locked up.

I said clearly what I meant. I have very knowledgeable contacts who have seen them both and I am simply saying that there are apparent accuracy issues with Narcisse. It is what is seen.

LSU's problem has been a lack of a real QB who can get the ball to the WRs. We apparently finally have a QB who can actually throw the ball and involve the passing game as it should be. Some of you are apparently slanted for whatever reason toward a QB who runs but is inaccurate. I prefer a QB who knows the offense and can consistantly complete his passes.

In a perfect college football world I'd take a highly accurate mobile strong-armed QB all day long. If I need to give up 1 of those attributes it would be the ability to run. I'd never lose sight of accuracy as that's the most important.

Except for leadership that is...

+1

I always support the player chosen by the staff. I may doubt them, but I don't see what they see day in and day out. If they falter it's next man up.

A lot of these guys think that hurts is a good qb...so yeah, what do you expect from them.

This is the word that I hear. Also Brennan throws much more accurately in practice as well. If O'Canada decides to stay a couple years, these guys could be a good one, two punch for opposing defenses to prepare for if Lowell can get some semblance of accuracy.

To be a "Dual Threat" QB, one has to be a threat in the PASSING game as well as the run. I'm getting tired of hearing ranters drone on about a kid being a dual threat this, dual threat that when all they can really do is chunk a ball up a long distance because they have a cannon arm and be a fast, shifty runner. What they always overlook is accuracy and competence in going through progressions in passing. If you don't have the passing threat, then they AREN'T a dual threat!! They are a single threat.
