Seems like the writing is on the wall for this program. We have two coaching spots that have not been addressed either.
With Ballard gone, its pretty clear we are in a much worse position. With the loss of Harden and Ballard not returning. It seems like this very well could be Caldwell's last season. Unless a miracle happens, it will probably be it. There was a rumor going around the Tasha Butts is being in contact with another SEC school for a position. I think this collapse is clear. Caldwell shows no excitement about her program and future here. This may ease her way out the door.

quote:Alleva should have pulled the plug after this season. NC is grossly over paid and not producing at the level of her salary. She just completed year FOUR. What else does Joe need to see? What you see is what you get. Stop the bleeding and get somebody in here that can return the program to where it was not too long ago.

BTW, really bad karma not keeping Bob Starkey on the staff. Wouldn't mind seeing him return as Head Coach.
Of course, the first option would be to quit farting around and make a real commitment to WBB. Throw the bank at the "Hammond Girl", get her in here and be done with it. Then return to "Double Headers" with the Mens team. Mulkey with a Top 5 team playing before the Men would bring back the magic and insure more exciting "Late 70's/Early 80's" type PMAC crowds on a consistent basis.....

There is so much FAIL here it is hard to address it all.
1) It is extremely common for a new coach not to retain most of the previous staff. I don't fault Caldwell for bringing her own people. Most coaches do it that way. And Starkey has never wanted to be a head coach..so that aint happening.
2) I am so sick and tired of hearing about the "Hammond girl". Mulkey is not and will not ever come here, or anywhere else for that matter. Let it go already.
3) The days of doubleheaders are long behind us. Will never happen again. When the women's program was in its prime, the women didn't NEED double headers...they did just fine as a separate event.

What's a new coach? Caldwell is new? Hmmm
O your taking about 4 years ago??!? Yea she shouldn't get a great assistant in that time. That's not enough time.

I agree with the above post that we ought to have Double Headers. Women play right before the men. Have both games the same night. Girls about 5:30/5:45 and the men about 7:30. Fill up the P
MAC. We did this in high school and it was great. We had a pretty girls point guard that drew a crowd. It was a crowd drawer. Get Baylor's coach hired here or get Leon Barmore from Tech[now at Baylor]. Get both back in La..

Insider reports suggest it's drug and alcohol related.
Also my understanding that she had a few run ins with the campus police, not criminally violent, but having to do with the drugs and alcohol previously mentioned.

Les Miles has lost control of the WBB team.

C'mon dude...this played out line has already been used in this thread.

And not a single person has laughed at it in well over a year.

NC has got to go, she has proven she can not recruit. When she gets some one to sign they stay for a year then we lose them. Something is wrong. I think the only thing she is. concerned about is a fashion statement.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with this.^^^^^^^
The suspending and removal of players over the past four seasons is an all to common occurence...........and we always seem to be losing good players. For me, when you see something like this happening consistently over time, it's not the athletes.....its the coaching staff. Either they're not doing a good job vetting these athletes when they recruit them, or things are changing once they get those athletes on campus. Either way, it's not good and I would look at the coach and not the athletes.
I think this doesn't bode well for next season. If the team does worse than they did this season, then coach Caldwell's contract may very well not be renewed...............or at the very most I could see only a one year extension (which most coaches reject). I dunno what's going on but it just seems that we take two steps forward, then one step back............or one step forward, and two steps back. I don't get it. Coach Caldwell is a good Xs and Os coach, but her recruiting and player management have left something to be desired.
As for the morons who keep bringing up Kim Mulkey...............
You DO realize she went to LaTech right? There's no chance in hell she's gonna come to LSU to build us back up. Additionally, she's making somewhere close to $1.5 million/ year...............which is TWICE what Nikki makes. If folks think SHE'S overpaid (and she really isn't), what do you think they'll say about Mulkey making close to $2 million/year?
Get real.

FORGET about Mulky after her son gets the boot she will never have anything to do with LSU
Posted on 6/28/15 at 11:41 am to lsualum96
Why do we keep getting other teams transfer, there must be a reason they are leaving. The same reason we keep losing players bad leaders

Ballard is good. Baker scored like 10 pts in her basketball career and Youngblood was not good.

Ballard got kicked off her HS team her senior year for a fight but I don't remember Baker getting into anything and she was non-stop suspended in her two college stops. And you could tell how terrible Youndblood's attitude was by her on court body language.

I don't see this team doing any better than last season. Losing Harden is huge. Now Ballard. This could be a very disastrous season. Hopefully Alleva realizes this and starts looking else where.
Before we hired Caldwell, I had heard things from UCLA fans that she was not all what her record suggested. Her recruiting was very questionable over there. Although she had more talent to chose from in the state of Cali. She coached up untalented teams in a below avg Pac 12 conference. In the SEC you cant really get away with that. You need some talent. All we have this season is Moncrief..
