Will never understand why LSU fans agree with this when the BCS has historically been soooo kind to LSU.

Some type of limited playoff is necessary. Some people will hate it, but they bitch regardless of what happens. The BCS system is flawed, any ranking system will be flawed if it is the sole determination of your championship.

What do you think a playoff will use? Admittedly, the impact of the rating system will be lessened under a playoff, but the idea that a playoff will magically fix all the problems is pretty short-sighted.

The public's opinion on this issue doesn't carry a feather.
The university presidents and AD's, the BCS chairmen, and most importantly, the companies that dump BILLIONS of dollars into college football to advertise don't give a flying frick who is crowned champion. This cash cow is giving some serious milk, and they aren't really interested in switching cows if the milk would be about the same.

and we cant assume that a playoff wouldn't ALSO be "soooo kind" to LSU.

You realize the BCS isn't evil right?
You realize that even with a playoff there has to be a system in place to decide which teams make it into the playoff.
The hate for the BCS is incredibly stupid and mostly just scapegoating because they don't like the outcomes.
A plus one system is fine. But an expanded one and done playoff format doesn't prove who the best team is. It only proves who got "hot" toward the end of the season. I'll pass on that.

It will reduce problems, not fix them all. It's necessary and the sooner people jump on board, the better. 10-15 years from now we will all be happier because of it.

Playoff in college football will destroy it.
Rival games will mean nothing.
BCS isn't perfect but it is not bad either.

In time, something will change and the SEC will no longer be in favor, LSU will get the raw end of the deal and all the haters will jump on the playoff train.
Most people support one anyway.

Yeah if we change to an 8 team playoff, then whoever is 9-12 is gonna be pissed they didn't get in.
With the BCS, it's 9-12, its 3-6/7 who have the beef. That's a big difference.
