This is probably germans x1000 but did he really push a coach on the sidelines during a scuffle in the Troy game? Or is it just a web rumor? If not, whats the real story and what is his status for the game?

It wasn't the Troy game it was the USC game. You could clearly hear the WR coach yell, "catch the fricking ball" and D.Byrd turned around and threw his arms up and said, "the ball was up here" (which it was) Both the coach and D.Byrd have said it was no big deal.

I witnessed the whole thing from the lower west side. Not sure who the coach was, but D Byrd missed a block on the edge for the 2nd or 3rd time that would have scored a TD. Coach grabbed him by the pads and lit into him, then shoved him away, Byrd went after him and was grabbed by teammates. After a few minutes, they were talking, coach had his arm around Byrd, and they parted nodding. It was a heat of the moment thing, probably more frustration than anything.

Yeah they were bickering back and forth from the field and sideline until he yanked Byrd and the scuffle happened. I think it was after a screen pass to Lafell where he missed a block, but he had missed one on a QB bootleg by Jefferson earlier too, so it just blew up after that.

Byrd seems to be mailing it in this year. Biggest single problem w/ this team is a lack of senior leadership.

Coaches in the NFL will not like seeing or hearing of Byrd's actions. He better watch himself or his draft status will fall.

It was probably middle of the 4th quarter, but I'm not positive about that...it was definitely after the comeback started. And I have no idea who the coach was. It happened at the north end of the players area of the sideline.

thanks.. i watched the second half on cox sports last night and didn't see anything.. i'll re-watch that part again and see if i can see anything..

FWIW the thing in the USC game was no big deal.. emotions... his coach told him "you gotta catch the ball" and he responded by throwing his hands in the air and looking back at him... coach said he came back and apologized later...

McKay posted something about this on his blog. Also says that Byrd is a cancer on the team. Byrd needs an attitude adjustment, in my opinion. Poor body language, not giving 100%. I can understand his frustration, but he needs to be a leader. Lafell is making him look like a chump this year.

It is late in the season, but the Troy game may be the thing that turns the light on and brings the team together. Leaders emerged in that game. I am optimistic that the Ole Miss game will show more progress and portend great things for the 2009 season.

I hope this senior class will respond with great effort in their final 2 reg season games. They are due for a big game where they all play well. Beckwith, Jackson, Byrd, Favorite in particular.

I witnessed the same scuffle. He was yanked out after a lack of effort blocking. We were at the 5 yard line about to go in for the lead. Pretty selfish. Some of our key players are on the bench dealing with him when we are trying to win a game. I gave Byrd the benefit of the doubt live at the game but after watching it last night on the replay, he does have some issues.

I would have hoped that the 'Bama game would have this effect.

Scott McKay mentioned this in his blog. Called out senior leadership or lack of it and pointed out Byrd is becoming a prob to the team.

It's fallen, and a long way. The fact that the QB is having problems getting him the ball would cost him some, but word gets around about attitude problems in the NFL, and their stock goes down. Way down. Byrd is mailing it in, as a previous poster suggested, and it's obvious.

I don't think you will see it on the replay. The biggest problem with T.V. is not being able to watch what you want to watch at a football game. Who is hurt, what the coaches are doing, what lineup is going in, the formations, etc.

i love it when I sit on the west side lower sections.
