obviously. probably would have scored 10 runs on their starter then, instead of just 1

who's the best pitcher on the team?

lange or poche?

Lange is the better pitcher. Still does not mean it was the wrong move to start Poche. As I've poster many times, Poche game 1 and Lange game 2 was the best combination to set you up to win the tournament which is the goal.

CSF is toast without their ace. Such a waste to pitch Lange here.

I'm chuckling out loud at the thought of us saving Lange, losing, and the resulting shitstorm on this site.

I did not post it but Poche, may have been the best start for Gqame 1, he was dealing before the 2 errors, who knows what happens if he does not commit those errors. They say hindsight is 20/20 but in this case I don't know if that really applies, I mean those are two fluke errors and it caused Poche to stress and force pitches and that is what got him beat. The same may have happened to Lange, he is still a freshman and pressure can take a toll.

7/8 teams pitched their ace game one.

Would it have been a good decision had we won the game?

would seriously laugh so hard if someone other than lange started... the epic shite fit on this board would be hilarious.

although you'd still have some like catholictigerfan defending such a ridiculous notion.

whether people agree or not, we HAVE to start Lange tomorrow...we haven't won a single game at TD Ameritrade so far in 2 trips, we need to get this first win. That means the freshman's gotta step up.

either way we need the win, period. end of story.

let's just geaux and beat CSF and gain some confidence. we need it.

6/8 teams scored more than one run on opposing starting pitcher.

And the other survived by a walk-off hr

How the fact that we only got 1 run on Morrison thru 7, can be ignored, is beyond me.

5th,6th,7th - retired in order. Morrison again in the 8th if the game was anywhere close. 9th was 3 strike outs by their closer. Do yall realize Morrison only had to throw one more inning (while at his peak btw) for this to have been a 1 run scored game? The other 2 runs were on inning fillers. I'm glad we didn't use Lange for that.

7/8 teams don't have the same pitching staff as LSU. What's your point? It made sense for LSU to pitch Poche. Most teams have a clear ace (i.e., they wouldn't even think about throwing their number 2), and most other teams were not facing a situation where the team they were going against had 7 lefties in the starting lineup when their number 2 guy was left handed. This isn't even getting to the point that Poche can pitch on short rest and Lange can't. You might not agree with it, and you would have valid points, but it certainly wasn't a "no brainer" to start Lange in game 1.

Umm, the 6'9" kid we scored on was one of their top guys out of the pen towards the end of the year. Not the first guy out, but one of.

But he's not the starter we couldn't hit, the starter that would have pitched the 8th if the game weren't already decided. No way to know if we still end up with one. But I think that's a safer assumption than 1 run winning us the game with Lange starting.

Let's win the game and worry about the next game later.

Poche was a good call in game one and Lange is the best call for game 2. If we don't start hitting it won't matter.

Yeah, I think most of us can agree that it was the right decision. Those errors were killer. It always makes me cringe when a pitcher tenses up and changes up his throwing motion when fielding just to play it safe
