He deserves critisim for the offense, but he also deserves praise for his overall record.

Sadly, most of the respondents resort to emotional diarrhea and personal attacks. For example, it is wonderful that his record against Saban is 3-3. But that record has left LSU with one BCS and Alabama with two. I have not said CLM is a bad coach. Clearly his record indicates the opposite.

What I have said is that he has made puzzling decisions at critical times which have lead to losing games that could have been won. These decisions have left him second behind Saban which at this point in LSU history is all that matters.

What about that is so difficult to understand?

I don't know many people that do not give Saban credit for returning LSU from the abyss. I give Dinardo some credit for that also because the return actually began under him. But Saban took us to heights some of the long time fans around here thought they would never see again. He made LSU relevant again, he improved facilities and most importantly changed the mindset of the fan base. For those accomplishments, I will be eternally grateful.

Saban chose to leave and is now at Alabama having even greater success than he had at LSU. I agree that is one of the reasons some fans have such a hard time letting him go and comparisons between he and Miles go on. But he is in fact gone.

Miles has done an incredible job maintaining and improving the program he inherited. To attribute Miles success to Saban is akin to attributing Sabans success to Bear Bryant. The number of programs that have lost an elite coach and disappeared for a long time is huge. That did not happen to us because we replaced one elite coach with another.

The people that can't see this are the ones that bristle at Miles success.

And still one of the best seasons in the history of the program. Get over it.

Dear Jax;

In this context all that matters are championships, especially if your SEC bunk mate keeps winning them.

Nice post and thanks.

Miles did what he was supposed to do in the regular season last year. Yeah, Bama smoked LSU in the BCS but LSU shouldn't have been playing them again. That still pisses me off.

The BCS game was disappointing but it was still a great season but schmucks like you just can't get over it.

We are in the middle of a new season and negatards like you are still talking about last year.

Do us a favor and just jump off the cliff now.

Yes, Saban brought LSU football back to respectability! Now Miles is holding us there with his recruiting, not his coaching ability!

Tigerblood29 should be back here shortly to let us all know that we should be praising Saban who left LSU 9 years ago.

how old are you? 12? Were you not around in the hallman or dinardo era? You are a f*cking joke dude. Les Miles wins 80% of his games. 80 f*cking percent. What he has done at LSU is nothing short on mind boggling and I am extremely grateful to have him as our coach. You honestly expect to win the national championship every year? Look at all the head coaches with national championships; mac brown got one 7 years ago and is about to be fired, urban meyer has 2, Gene chizik...LOL!!!, Saban has 2 at bama. IT is VERY difficult to win NCs. You expect LSU to win the NC 5 times in the next 10 years or Miles should be fired? I am really blown away how anyone can continually criticize a man who wins as much as Miles

We beat BAMA at BAMA last year btw

See schools like Clemson, Miami, Michigan, and even ND (who might be a bad example this year). These schools are perennial top recruiting teams, yet dont tend to get it done like the SEC does.

Just go take a look at Rivals and look at the year to year rankings. Having good recruiting is certainly a start, but you have to have a top notch staff to win the amount of games we do year after year.

SEC has the best coaching, they pay the most to get them, and is why they are the best conference.
