Shouldn't be any shite given although I'm sure there will be. This is a great hire by Alleva if we're being honest.

I'm with you, but some people are determined to hate him into his grave, most not being able to forgive him for Herman.

I think Alleva did basically what we've all wanted from day 1...

1. Locate his target
2. Quickly meet and discuss the job
3. Offer long term contract
4. sit back and watch everyone get happy about it

I think this could have been done this past weekend. You saw some teams get their guy less than 24hrs after the target was bounced from the tournament, but overall you have to be happy with the long term contract locking in a guy who seems to think this is a destination job. I really hope it works out.

I mean....its certainly an improvement over Jones. But Trent Johnson appeared to be a good hire as well.

On the face of it, its a good hire with less risk and more upside than most. But Alleva has swung and missed a lot so we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I don't like Alleva, but people that throw constant hate at him need to find better hobbies. They're like people that blindly hated George W. Bush or Barack Obama and couldn't give them a moment of praise even when they did something right.

In my opinion, what Alleva did with Duke Lacrosse should have exempted him from getting the job; however, it didn't. He's here now and should be judged on merit.

I am not sure exactly what you guys are praising him for at this point, other than he moved quickly to identify and hire his candidate. Time will tell if this is a good hire as you can't make that judgment based upon W/L's as there are not yet any for Wade at LSU at this point.

Is there cause for optimism, sure but I don't see the sense in running to praise Alleva yet as his hiring process/practices haven't exactly been the greatest.

So we're all going to lose our minds because Alleva did his job for the first time since he's been hired here?

Do you see sense in bashing the Orgeron hire considering he hasn't coached a game yet with the interim tag removed and his own staff in place?

Nope. My issues, as pertains to the Orgeron hiring, are not with Orgeron, but with the search process Alleva executed.

As regards hiring Wade, Alleva did his job....,nothing more, nothing less at this point. Like other hires, time will tell if they were "good" hires.

I'm very happy with this hire and the job Alleva did on it. That being said, doing your job right ONCE won't get people off your back. Especially since this hire needed to be done to fix his own damn mistake. But for today...way to geaux Joe!

The people that throw constant hate at him are judging him on his merits. He's fricked up almost every major hire he's been a part of. And the "almost" just got added in the last 24 hours.

This is so ignorant. Trent Johnson, at the time, was an outstanding hire on paper. No one thought we could get a coach that was coach of the year in two different conferences and brought teams to the sweet 16.

Patrick Murphy was an outstanding hire for softball until he showed his vagina. Beth Torina was even a better hire.

Nicky fargus, at the time, was the hottest female coach out there. She had turned around ucla, had a top recruiting class.

Now, if you want to bash on him how he handled football, I get that. His hands were tied with Johnny Jones. Jones came in and beat his coach. The administration and dale brown cronies said we need our guy here. he gave him his shot and he failed like most believed he would.

Alleva isn't perfect. In fact, I think he's been pretty good at having a plan to go after coaches. Unfortunately, he gets the blame for all the politics that is lsu. He was firing les and hiring Jimbo two years ago. He had the money raised from t.a.f. and confirmation from jimbo. Alexander stepped in and said it cost to much money and would look bad for academics.

If there is a single person to blame on how lsu has looked in hiring people, I think it's with alexander stepping in and meddling with athletics. He wants coaches on the cheap and ties the hands of the people trying to make these hires. He has extorted the athletic program by demanding they pay 5 million a year to academics. Now, think about that. Most universities get money from their states for Athletics. LSU does NOT. So, if Alabama get's 5 million from their state and lsu is pay $5 to their academics. That's a $10 million difference.

Alabama took a HUGE p/r hit for firing Shula and hiring nick saban. They spent a ton of money doing so. 10 years later, it's the best thing they could have done. LSU was essentially doing this two years ago when they were firing les and hiring jimbo. Now, not sure if Jimbo is Nick Saban. However, you can't fault Alleva for what he was trying to do. That's on Alexander.
