I will praise Alleva when these hires produce results, but not a bad hire on paper.

I have never embraced his hire but kudos for making a choice that fulfills the parameters LSU needs to become relevant once more. Wade won't turn this around immediately, and I don't agree with some posters who claim Alleva hired on the cheap, but I think his philosophy will resonate with our fan base and attract talent to the program.

Duke lacrosse, Duke baseball, oh and there's the fact he was on the boat his son was driving when is son was intoxicated and arrested.

But yeah, let's just forget this guy had no business being hired as an AD.

He doesn't deserve credit for competently doing the job for which he is paid handsomely.

I wouldn't say cheap either...I'd say we did good for who we are, what we need, and who we could realistically get.

Let's all just be a little patient with the kudos. On paper, it seems like a positive hire, but he will be judged by wins and losses.

Remember, Trent Johnson was also applauded at his hiring for his resume.

Why? Because he did his job? frick you.

What would happen to you if you didn't do your job as you were expected?

He's getting a paycheck. There's his damn credit.

I am not sure exactly what you guys are praising him for at this point, other than he moved quickly to identify and hire his candidate. Time will tell if this is a good hire as you can't make that judgment based upon W/L's as there are not yet any for Wade at LSU at this point.

So, with basketball he gets his guy and moves quickly, but no praise until we see results.

With Football, he delayed, lost "his" guy who was only using LSU as leverage for a bigger K with Texas, but we immediately judge/criticize before seeing results of Coach O.

Got it!!!! Typical LSU fans. We continue to hate ourselves more than anyone else hates us!

Alleva made a great hire...

My whole existence of whining about Alleva to mask my shortcomings is over

Too many good points to pick a few to quote. This needs to be read and reread by the crazies on our board.

I am not sure if all of the blame goes on alexander, but from the outside looking in, I think you have made a very well reasoned argument that much of the blame should go on him.

o doubt. That's the guys I hoped to tickle with this thread.

Dont act like the hate isnt well earned. Up to this point the only good thing he has ever done was hire our softball coach. Its telling when posters want to give credit for doing what he is paid to do.yay Alleva didnt bungle this hire.

, I think it's with alexander stepping in and meddling with athletics.

Alleva refusing to comment on the situation fueled the wild speculation.

He wants coaches on the cheap and ties the hands of the people trying to make these hires

Its wasnt F king that ran away from Herman just because Herman wanted to hear Texas' offer. That was our clown ad.

I am prepared to give credit to Alleva on the hire as soon as I know more.
I think Wade is a good choice, so I know what Alleva bought, but I do not know what he paid for it.
What are the terms? do we know?
Maybe others have seen this information, but I have not. Until this data is available I don't know how one can have an informed opinion.

This seems backwards to me.

1) Give AD credit for good hire "on paper".

2) Hire doesn't pan out, for whatever reason.

3) Retroactively bash AD for something that wasn't his fault.

I have new data points.
I understand we paid $2.5m, which ain't cheap.
Those of us (I am one) who blame Alleva/ F. King for seeking coaches on the cheap, must acknowledge that he/they did not do so here, although we certainly could have offered more to other candidates. (on the other hand, this figure seems to strengthen the case he did so with The Orgeron).

Maybe they are responding to all the criticism?

That is not what I said in my post. We have to wait and see on both football and basketball before we know if they will be "good" hires. Here is the rest of my post that was ommitted in your response.

Nope. My issues, as pertains to the Orgeron hiring, are not with Orgeron, but with the search process Alleva executed.
