Crappy Residence Inn-Marriott near Cowboy Stadium

Get this..as soon as LSU announced the game with Oregon I made on-line reservations with the Residence Inn near Cowboy Stadium. This was sometime last year. Got an on-line confirmation number.
Got an email today telling me that due to a "technical inventory error" my reservation has been cancelled. I think what this POS hotel meant to say is that they now realize my room can be rented for a much greater room rate than what they confirmed this Fall.
I'm sure there is no one booked at the hotel that made reservations before me...seems if they're overbooked, they would have bounced the last to register (and please explain how in the computer age a hotel overbooks?).
I'd half-way expect this from a Motel 6, but a Marriott?

I work at a Courtyard Marriott, all you have to do is override and you sell it.
That's fricked up, though.

That is COMPLETE bullshite!
Have your confirmation number, and call the national customer service or reservations line and PUT UP A STINK!!
Tell Marriott to help you find another hotel room for the same price. Put up a fight man!
I would be shocked if they didn't make this right with you. You could also let them know that this is getting 1000 views on the net to put some pressure on.
Let us know how your call pans out.

Yes - I am rewards member...travel frequently too. I'm already drafting a letter to Marriott's CEO.
This Marriott offered me a room in Las Colinas. I told them to go 'Ole Miss themselves. If I wanted to stay in Las Colinas, that's where I would have made my reservation.
