Did it at Notre Dame, has done it at LSU every time but once. He tries to out think the other coach. And the bats go cold almost every year late in the year.

not his fault Poche forgot where first base is, and that the batters all of a sudden forgot how to use that stick thingy in their hands.

I'm pissed with the display today. But it isn't over - This CWS.

That said, ofer-Omaha since 2009, R loss to Houston, SR to Stony Brook. LSU has some epic losses postseason under Mainieri.

You could say any good coach "melts" in the postseason. Name all the guys who don't, I"ll wait.

The guy from TCU appears to be getting a hell of a lot more from his talent over the past two years, than CPM.

Every coach that has beaten LSU in the postseason since 2009 has a better win than CPM has since 2009. Seriously, LSU hasn't beaten a team in the postseason anywhere close to LSU's caliber since Texas.

Well there isn't another Skip out there. Provide the examples of active coaches that don't "melt" in the postseason

LSU committed four errors today and didn't take advantage of earlier chances to score runs before game out of hand. The Tigers missed several hittable pitches early in the game that could have caused damage. They beat themselves.

Having said that, I think Mainieri seems to give off an air of anxiousness in the postseason, and I think it rubs off on his players. LSU played really tight against ULL in the super regional and today.

There are doers in society who accomplish much in their lives like taking a program to 4 College World Series, winning a National Championship, winning 3 SEC Titles, and 5 SEC Tournament, AND THERE ARE THOSE WHO POST ON A WEB SITE AND CRITICIZE THAT COACH, AND SAY HE MELTS DOWN. I'LL GO WITH THE FORMER OVER THE LATTER.

I'm not asking for National Championships every year, but we're talking about a double elimination format where LSU has gone 5 years without a playing single game as an underdog but still hasn't made any noise in the hunt for the championship.

This. When the TV pans to him he looks like he could throw up at any second. Skip never looked nervous. Never looked rattled. Mainieri though usually has a look of being intimidated by the moment and just a fear of losing. The really really good coaches don't fear losing or play not to lose, they play to win. I also think it rubs off on the players. If you have ever had a boss that is constantly anxious it makes you that same way a lot of the time.

It is his fault that Lange wasn't throwing to first though. Who the Frick doesn't start their ace in a post season tournament?? Like OP said trying to out think and micromanage. The worst possible thing happened to us yesterday. We lost and now have to pitch our way yo the finals. Which is without a doubt the weakest link on this team. At least we did string a few hits together at the end that will maybe give us a little confidence.

On a side note why is Chinea trying to git every pitch out of a park that is next to impossible to hit one out. He looked like a 10 year old little league player yesterday. Popped everything straight a mile high.

Two questions.

Was Poche magically going to throw better than he did in game 2?

Is there a difference in the number of games played between losing game 1 and winning game 2 and vice versa?
