Could You See Steele Moving to a 3-4 Next Season?

Just thought I'd gage tRant's opinion on moving to this defense since we are thin on prototypical 4-3 LB's next season.
If we have a good recruiting class, we will end up with a lot of beef on the inside D-line. I could see LaCoture playing NT or maybe even one of the freshman DT's to take that role. Then, have Godchaux, Herron, or LaCoture (if he doesn't play NT) take the 3-4 DE roles. Then have Key and another OLB play the outside, while Beckwith (if he stays) can team up with another LB (possibly a freshman) to play the middle.
This has the potential to confuse the players who already seemed lost at time in Steele's defense soo.... I don't know what to think

I don't see lb depth to run 34 next season

Have you seen our depth chart at linebacker? Lmao

Sooooo, we are thin on LBs and should run a 34?
I'm not seeing it.

With. LAs propensity to pump out DL and not LBs, we need to run a 43.

I was thinking of converting some DE's like Key into a 3-4 LB but that's probably too tall of task at this point

Dude. With what LBers? I don't want Steele changing anything from what LSU has done for the last 15 years. Run a damn 4-2-5 and play bump and run man coverage. None of this zone shite, none of this 3-4 shite. Leave that stuff at Alabama Steele.

Our defense was ay different under Saban and Pellini than under Chavis.
Sure we ran a 4-3 but you can't compaire a defense that used DE like Marcus Spears and a defense that uses DE like Mingo.
As to the OP i think we should go 4-3 Under.
Key would go nuts as a leo and we have more DTs than DE.
I think it would be easier for some of our De to move to Sam LB in the 4-3 Under than a traditional 4-3.

Well the good thing about a 3-4 is that Key would be a perfect fit for a 3-4 pass rushing OLB. Like Mingo is for the browns.
And if Beckwith stays that puts us in need of an OLB and an ILB VS needing 2 OLB's if we stick to the 4-3.
My guess would be put Donnie Alexander at ILB with Beckwith, not sure who could fill the other OLB spot maybe Lewis Neal is hes quick enough.
Also I agree that Godchaux would be an excellent 3-4 DE.
I feel like Steele would be more comfortable with a 3-4. That's the scheme he coached at Bama.

Steele is terrible, and next year's d will suck. He's sucked everywhere he's been. I don't expect that to change, and he may be a huge factor in LSU losing Moses. Bama knows how bad Steele is, and that will be a recruiting tool for them.

We don't have LBers

I have had this thought before as well. It all depends on if you have a couple of DE's that can stand up and play OLB.
Either way, we are then at LB next year. I think this scenario could possibly be the solution though.

Yea
Let's run a 3-4 with 215 lb duke Riley and Devin Voorhies as our LBs

To be fair, Bama hired him twice. It's dissonant to hold Bama in high regard and to say that they hired a shitty coach twice.

Steele likes his front 4 to be big, bullish, bum rushers. I think he would want 4 down.

Pretty sure we will stay 4-2-5. Like someone said earlier in this post, we should leave zone coverage out and just do man on man. Our corners are comfortable playing bump and run. We can hide a lot of formations out of zone, but it's very hard to get players SUPER disciplined. If players learn it well, I wouldnt mind seeing more zone. Just cant have busted plays where players didnt know who to guard happening every game.

As DC, he has always sucked, and LSU's D was not good this year.
