Let's say LSU were to lose to Bama in the dome. It was an extremely close game, maybe even a hugely controversial call (ie. PP7's pick in '09)

LSU would have one more win than Bama, a better SOS than Bama, and it would be literally a head to head draw.

When a team has hoisted the crystal ball in the past, has it been because everyone knew they would be #1 in the BCS the next morning, or because they actually won the final game?

Coach's are contractually bound to vote the BCS winner #1.

That is how the crystal football is tied to the BCS.

Somebody doesn't remember '03.

I was actually thinking about this the other day - I could see a split title if the rematch happens and if bama were to win.

I still think the Cowboys get the vote though. I haven't been buying ESPN's predictions for most of the year now. They've clearly got crimson colored glasses on so they've lost credibility this season.

The AP is "a nice little trophy". The entire College football world agrred to the BCS format and agreed that the winner of this game would be champions. I think I'll stick to that.

Here it is in a nutshell Tigerfans

Nov 5th did and will count

At worst...should we lose the rematch (Its nit going to happen)...there will be a split natl championship with the AP's choice being LSU.

At best we win and are the G.O.A.T

Its really a no lose situation and if the gumps dont like it ........they should have won nov.5th.

BTW in 03 USC never played LSU

in 11 LSU did play at bama and won

The rematch just evens things up at 1-1 (Should LSU lose).......it would take a third game to determine a clear cut #1

If Bama beats LSU they will be the BCS champs and the AP champs (not that the AP matters, anyway)

Largest sports network in the world is part of the what? AP. Guess what we'll have to listen to if Bama were to win the AP "nice little trophy"?

If Bama wins, they're the national champs.

If LSU wins, they're the national champs.

It is really that simple.

AP trophy is no longer any better than the Grantland Rice or MacArthur trophies.

This! LSU does NOT claim championships. LSU wins them in final game of the year on the field in BCS title games.
