C'mon guys, the CB isn't that bad!

1:00 kickoff now, and the weather is hardly ever a factor contrary to perception. It's much more likely to be 70 and sunny than 30 and snowing. Tech is really their same 'ole selves. Hit 'em in the mouth with a good defense and they are very beatable. Texas failed to do that but still almost beat 'em in Lubbock save for a dropped INT.

Ole Miss or LSU could hold their own against Taco Tech.

I'm sure there are negotiations behind the scene. But I think Ole Miss could decline the Cotton Bowl invite and wait for the Peach Bowl to pick next between them, Vandy and Kentucky.
I don't see the Peach picking Vandy or Kentucky over Ole Miss.

Ole Miss is not going to decline the Cotton Bowl bid. It would be stupid of them to do so. LSU needs to take care of its own business, because losing to Arky could drop the Tigers to an even shittier bowl. It's mind-blowing how we're talking about going to the Chicken, Liberty, or Music City bowls when just a few months ago we had such high hopes. I'm really just ready for this season to be over.

Yeah because if we lose to a Big 12 (got left out of the NCG) team we will be expected to lose. People will be saying: "Well we kind of knew they weren't that good all along." "After all they did lose the heir apparent RP."

On the other had, if we go to the Peach and lose to a consensus mediocre ACC team people will be saying things like: "Well we knew they weren't going to win another NC this year, but wow no one knew that they were actually THIS bad."

A loss in the Cotton doesn't cost us any perception points, but a loss in the Peach does. But we have a better chance to win the Peach so it's a risk vs reward trade off.

ETA: It really depends on how the commentators/media decide to spin a win or loss. If its Gary freaking Danielson though we might as well shut the program down. (for the more dense among us... read lot's of sarcasm)

That's it.

But, I don't blame 'em. Texas Tech puts a beatdown on either LSU or Ole Miss.

Like I said, there is very little difference in the payout once the money is distributed. If things are like they used to be, each team will take home $1 million off the top regardless of which bowl they play in. The rest is split up in the conference.

guaranteed $1 mil >>> possible impressing of recruits IMO

others may see it differently but it seems like guaranteed money is better than a possible gain

I think our tiger fans draw more people than most SEC teams. To my knowledge.

The million is guaranteed with the Chik-fil-a or the Cotton. And when all of the factors or considered, I don't see why the Cotton is viewed to be such a better bowl than the Chik-fil-a by the fans, other than purely historical reasons. Not much difference in the money, Chik bowl has a better time slot as the only prime time bowl on New Year's Eve, and a much better facility. If I were a fan going, I'd rather go to Atlanta. That being said, I don't think we will win either one, so it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

LSU's fan turnout for whichever bowl they go to will be much lower than normal. I know several people that usually go to bowl games who decided not to order tickets this time.

This is easy. LEADERS 2007=Too many to list
2008=0000000000000000

LSU does not want nor does it deserve to have to be the whipping boy to whomever they play in the Cotton bowl. It would be ugly.

Nah, not really. The amount is $200k more guaranteed, and by comparison, it's "better" recruiting (I figured that Texas > Georgia for LSU's recruiting, but whatever) for that more guaranteed money. And $200k is quite a bit of cash -- and remember, the name of the game these days is money, and the university heads want their money and have a bigger say than the coach who wants his recruiting "advantages."

I didn't know you could pick-and-choose. I'd rather play in the C-f-A Bowl as well. We'd get rolled in the Cotton Bowl.

They just don't want their frozen a$$es handed to them. Can't say I blame them.
