I can understand with T. White still a little gimpy being forced to play Thomas...but with J Mills back. ..why did Corey Thompson seem to play so much..he did not play at all in three games (wku, sc, Florida )?

Thompson is a vet that won't bust coverages. He was out there with Mills. Jamal played in the box usually it seemed.

Its was a great plan by the staff to start someone who hasn't played hardly all year, for the biggest game of the year.

Mills said the secondary issues were communication before the bama game. I'm sure inserting a new starter wouldn't make that issue any easier

There were no busted coverages in the secondary against Bama. Thompson must be the answer

It just seemed kiffin did exactly what he wanted...spread v the field with bubble/wr.. screen...drag routes across the middle..did not challenge deep ..but definitely kept the middle open for henry..very successful against our backfield

Yep. I am a Miles supporter but don't understand why we don't do something as simple as this. We have the athletes to do this and beat anyone in the nation, including Bama but when there is no other threat to the defense, we get Saturday's results.

Pierre,
I'm just an average football IQ guy at best, I truly don't know the ins and outs of football scheme and whatnot. That said, you seem to insinuate that C Thompson didn't play well. Please explain further if you don't mind. Again, just an average fan here with no real football knowledge but it looked like he held up well to me. What am I missing?

Corey did play well. Our front 7 however got their lights knocked out.

I didn't think our D played that poorly. I thought the DBs were about all that looked ok, our DEs and OLB were pretty average

Don't think he played well either missed lots of tackles and got a couple penalties

He had one offsides penalty at the beginning but I thought he played pretty well, especially considering the injury issues he has. I for one am happy to see him back fighting for playing time.

Jefferson may be the best safety in run support. Facing a team that operates their offense on running the ball and play action, we take Jefferson out.

Hasn't Jefferson been getting trucked lately though?

And Jefferson has had blown assignments. Frequently enough to ride da pine.

Thompson is one of our bigger DB's so I would assume another reason he was in there was to help stop the run.

This is as wrong as saying that pee wee herman is a better running back than fournette. You think Jefferson is better in run support than Jamal Adams? Wow! Yeah, always amazed at the lack of talent evaluation on the rant, but this takes the cake.

In fact, Jefferson has been terrible in run support.
