Lastly, you are really naive if you don't think football is a big deal to LSU as an institution and an important part of the job of University President not to screw up.
Just because the Screeching Minority of the Rant says this got screwed up doesn't mean it got screwed up or the correct decision wasn't made.
Don't let the 50,000 threads fool you. 80% of them were made by the same 5 guys.

Ray Lasseigne is actually a good guy. That's weird I see him here as the first contact. He owns a oil company in Shreveport and summer after my junior year I was looking for an internship and called every oil exploration company in shreveport and he was the only one that talked to me and gave me advice. He told me I could go out to the locations where he was drilling to learn.

Why do you wanna fire this man?? Or get him fired I should say?? He did nothing wrong! As a matter of fact he saved Miles job. I think your arse should be fired for bringing this up.

This is getting out of hand. Some of you just need to find a hobby because being an LSU seems to be a burden for quite a few of you.

Left one last guy out we need to fire and not for any reason in particular but since we are on a fire them all kick lets go ahead and cut our losses with LSU General Counsel Thomas Skinner too. You know he was in on this.

Yep. Timlan is clueless. Thank god he's not in charge.

Yup. Fuc King Alexander is a joke.

F King is a common con artist from a family of con artists. It's not that surprising he hoodwinked lil Bobby. This state will drive you crazy if you don't drink enough
Leaving Louisiana at the age of 18 was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

They already do trial attorney. They throw 8 million annually at fuc King Alexander as is. How much more would he cry if that was removed? What about if LSU athletics needed state money for coaches and facilities after TAF told him to get screwed and defunded everything and pulled out?

Only a libtard would make that statement. Scott knows his shite politically and if you think he has no connections after owning purple And gold magazine you are clueless. Thanks for letting us know.

What stupid frick would want to fire a university president because the football team doesn't satisfy him?

While I think this thread is unnecessary, If you don't think the management of the LSU institution looks like it's run by a bunch of morons, you are looking through rose colored glasses. The WHOLE thing was poorly handled. I DESPISE Miles coaching abilities, and hoped for the firing, but deep down knew he was going to stay... based on just $$ alone. F. King either allowed incompetence to permeate the situation surrounding the largest revenue generator (direct and indirect $$) on the campus or he was on board with this debacle and is incompetent himself.
Of course he doesn't deserve the boot for a football team, but the reputation of the institution has been tarnished by the lack of decisive leadership on what is the most publicly viewed aspect of major universities. His and Alleva's silence gave the appearance that they just were gonna "wait and see" rather than lead.
Maybe that's not how they handled it behind the scenes, but the silence from the president and AD was unacceptable in the face of public scrutiny. At some point, someone needs to step up to the microphone and push in some chips.

Hanagriff and Derek Ponamsky have said it's basically on the money. So don't reject Alexander playing a large role in the Miles fiasco without knowing how the process work
Its not the money if thats what you meant. They knew going in how much this would cost. Wondering if the leak was directed by a pol to torpedo the deal.

Who then make a tax deductible donation to the TAF earmarked to fund the buyout. The ultimate payout would actually come from the TAF and not the handful of boosters.

All of that ridiculous generosity of scholarships to out of state students is just about to bankrupt the Capstone. They're in debt to the tune of 958.1 million as of 9/30/14 (LINK ). They're even more laughable as a Tier-one research university. While the run of championships at Alabama has probably increased their enrollment, it obviously hasn't helped their bottom line because of all the borrowing and spending to accomplish their expansion of out of state students.
As for stats on LSU enrollment (full time students):
2003 27,152
2004 27,980
2005 27,210
2006 26,229
2007 25,230
2008 25,471
2009 25,244
The year after the NC of 2003 there was an increase of full time students in 2004, followed by a decrease in 2005. The same applied to 2007, but to a lesser degree. Slight increase in 2008 followed by a slight decrease in 2009. Not as dramatic as one would think, but still an increase after both championship years.
What would be an even better indicator of impact would be donations to the University Flagship Fund and TAF before, during, and after championship seasons.

quote:Not even the point. The average person on this site wanting the president to be fired couldn't pick the president out of a lineup or find his office or explain what a university president even does. In these difficult times for the university, the idea that a president should be hired or fired based on football is retarded.

Now obviously the heavy hitters kick in more coin but there was never going to be 2 or 3 guys writing checks for an extra 15 million for a buyout.
It was four donors. That's it.
TAF wasn't kicking in a dime.
