You don't recruit talent like Quinn,Dupre and Washington to not sling the ball around.

to be fair, we had quite the WR talent 2009-2011 also...not that our stats indicate as much

You bet. The most yds between that and 2007 was Jefferson in 2009 with 2,166

really sucks that he's leaving. given what Mett did last season I though he had a real shot to step in and continue the pro-style attack that we had.

either way, best of luck to him

Why? He's not as good as Mett.

Don't forget Rettig. He's as talented as the rest on the roster.

Since I posted that, no less than 5 people have mentioned Mett in their posts RE: Rivers in this thread. It may be hyperbole to say that anyone thinks he'd be as good, but plenty of people think he could be based on what Mett did. To which I say,

Great now we are going to have the short side option and shitty offenses again. Why do they always do this. Ive never hated on les miles but when will he realize we dont win championships woth dual threats. You think he would have learned. Look how much better our offense was with mett. Im tired of these damn runners that cant throw the ball. Not saying that rivers was good because i thought he was a big bag of shite. But this will scare off good pocket passers because they will think all we run is that bull shite read option crap. Im sick of it!! Give me a qb that can actually throw a damn ball all day over a runner that is an allright passer. If its a cam newton type of athlete then its fine. But the qbs we get ala jefferson is just shite under my shoe!!!

what are you basing this on? he's the same style of quarterback, he's taller than Mett and I don't doubt he at least has the same arm strength. he may not have been able to squeeze the ball between 3 defenders like Mett could but not many QBs around the country last year could do that either.

I would've like to have seen him in an open competition with Cam all Summer and Spring and during the Fall. He could've improved immensely.

All I was saying.

You don't beat Saban with pocket passers either, unless you're playing him in a meaningless bowl game.

so you think we were just sitting on Mett 2.0 (or even 1.5) and pretty much chased him off?

I didn't say anything about chasing him off. All I said was that I would've liked to have seen him compete and take the starting job.

Cam would've helped him improve greatly and I was looking forward to seeing Rivers actually play.

You're really misinformed. Jefferson rarely ran read option, he ran more speed option that hardly ever worked, even still, option accounted for maybe, at the most, 20% of the offense. Our Offense struggled because we couldn't throw well enough consistently. Yet we went 13-1 with it one year...

we went 13-1 because Jefferson didn't start a majority of the season and we had a consistent QB who ran the offense and din't turn the ball over and was efficient.

as soon as Jefferson returned to the huddle the offense sputtered like it did in '09 and '10 when he was starter.
