The Hat thanks you. I too have tried to jump fully on the wagon, and now since we have him for an extention for several more years, I too think I have no choice but to accept it and move forward. It's all we got.

This maybe one of my favorite posts I have ever read on The Rant. The twists, turns, creativity, lucidity, redemption, and the copious amounts of similes made this thread fascinating and poignant. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Please post more. We need more people like you.

We are so lucky to have Les. No matter how frustrating, stubborn, and mind-numbingly conservative he can be at times, he wins 81% games. That is beautiful no matter how ugly and beat-your-head-against-the-wallness he can be. He actually has a personality, is not a mindless robot, and is a great leader for young men.

Read the whole damn thing, good post.

BTW - if I had a vote for the Cappelletti Trophy, I'd cast it for Rex Burkhead, Caucasian RB, University of Nebraska.

This is probably (definitely) the best post I've read on TD.com! You have summed up the last 8 years perfectly! This is High praise coming from a Sunshine pumping, PosiTiger, who thinks Les Miles is the greatest coach in LSU history!

It's this sort of thing that makes me dismiss the anti Miles people. So many real issues to discuss, and these people are talking about jackets, hats, headphones and where's my wife?

Jj beat bama twice. I still cant believe any of yall think a diff qb would have changed anything. Or that les was just crazy enough not to start the guy that beat bama 2 years in a row. Manning wouldnt have helped us in that game considering our o line didnt even bother showing up for that game or the first 4 of the season.

But nice post by the op

Neat post...

We can drive down to BWW tomorrow (ya'll still have Mom's Honda, don't you?) and watch a team we played go for all the marbles. While you watch, hear their prowess extolled by some talking head, ask yourself, did they have better talent? Ball bounce their way? Meanwhile, we can address the growing number of basketball threads here. I think I know why they make Levi's in Nicaraugra now instead of Pine Bluff. It's still second best no matter how much you pay...

I understand that thought if you are an alabama fan. If you are an lsu fan, I think you would prefer for alabama to have les miles.

No matter how frustrating, stubborn, and mind-numbingly conservative he can be at times, he wins 81% games.

What people need to understand is that at this point, the recruiting machine at lsu is set up appropriately and money get into the appropriate hands so recruiting takes care of itself.

My point is that any coach out there who is a good coach, given lsu as his school, could recruit at such a level that would allow lsu to win 81% of games.

That is beautiful no matter how ugly and beat-your-head-against-the-wallness he can be

Do you think that usc does well? They likely win a high percent of their games. But few would doubt that they under perform year in and year out.

quote:

He actually has a personality, is not a mindless robot, and is a great leader for young men.

I don't know his personality, so I can't comment.

He is not a mindless robot, but he is a mindless human sometimes. And this is worse. And those mindless moments tends to be at times when he needs to be thinking quickly.

Finally, he is not a great leader of young men. I would say a great leader of young men also teaches their players discipline. And a team oriented approach. I have not seen lsu being very disciplined. I see them getting by on their great recruiting classes and getting by on talent.

Say what you will, but the team isn't a great team, much like usc is not a great team. They are a very talented team.

I think he fails as a great leader of young men.

Even as an all the way CLM supporter, I thought this was one of the best-ever posts I've read on the TD rant.

I laughed as each painful memory was brought back to the present.

Miles has given us all lots of "go figure" moments, but the kids love to play for him and will run through a wall for him.

dude, you will never understand the posimiles posters.
but, we do understand you. your demand for perfection is a self reflection. you cannot now live in the now. you live in fearful expectation and regret. please don't try to convince us that your negative way is the way we even want to consider.
it will be difficult, but accept your own low self esteem as something you will die with.
