Everyone seems to be complaining, but what are the realistic options to make a change? Hurst could go the LT and Vadal could play RT is one being thrown around. Anybody know the status on anyone of the young guys we redshirted last year? I'm assuming they just aren't ready to be thrown into the fire. Evan Washington would be a nice guy in the mix if he was around.

People have suggested it's an option. There have to be several different ones available, and I was simply asking if anyone thought they would suggest which ones were most likely to be tried. Forgot this is the rant and if you ask a simple question you either want to coach or think you know everything.

He literally cannot be worse than Dora the Explorer is.

And it allows for us to upgrade the entire line, because Alexander is also better that Dora and he's 4 games into his career.

The coup de grace was the "cut block" flop. You have to at least make SOME contact. Jesus dude, I can fall down. Have you seen me drunk?

My apologies...been here too long.

I believe that would be better than what we currently have on the field. However, I would like to see Collins at LT, Hurst at LG, Alexander at RT. My reasons are that Hurst's liability is in pass protection and I don't know how much better he would be at LT; however, he is a good run blocker and therefore he would be better served at G. Collins is a natural T who can road grade and he also has the agility to pass protect. I think Alexander as a freshman is already as good as Hurst is as a senior.

If that were true, he would be playing LT. Miles would not be playing Josh D over Collins, not matter what some idiots think. Collins' future might strictly be at left guard. I read somewhere that Collins was apprehensive at first, but likes the position a lot now.

Whoaaaa now, slow down. Don't come on here and try to ruin the agenda of all of these other posters.

Miles plays favorites and the back-ups are really the best players, but only at the QB position and on the OL. Every other position has the right guy playing.

Maximus and his crew have been bitching for years about the OL, and they always want the backup to be starting. When it finally does happen, they bitch about the new guy and want a RS freshman to step up and play now.

If there was another combination on the OL that would give LSU a better chance of winning, we would see it. shite, do you think JD gets blown up every day at practice by two of the best DEs in the country, but still gets to start? Obviously he has proven his worth somewhere along the line.

All of these O-Line threads also conveniently ignore how dominant the run game has been so far this year. Apparently, the only requirement to be a good OL in the eyes of the Rant is to not give up sacks.

Worse- I shudder to think that he gets blown away but only 3 out of every 5 plays whereas it is 5 out of 5 for the alternatives.

I would like to therefore like to subscribe to the favorites theory since it means that LSU will have a better backup player at all times, just waiting to take over at the right time

I do find it humorous that there is no Big Cat clips of Josh D...........hmmmmmm

On point: great reliever and backup, but below par as a starter much less LT.

Hmmmmmm. Now that you mention it, you're right. Guess Davenport doesn,'t have the foot speed to play LT.

I have confidence in Josh D and the coaching staff. They will work with him and everyone will see a big improvement on Saturday.

He has very little game experience at LT, just be patient.

But have you seen the third and 2 plays this year? We used to be able to play smash mouth and get that 2-3 yards NO MATTER WHAT. I'm not seeing that this year...

You are correct first and second scrimmage JD played LT with ones and struggled mightly against Rasco and comp. He will be tested in conference play for sure.

miles needs to get studs fat arse out of the press box and start coaching the ol. the ol is absolutely the weakest link on the team. josh d has to go to the bench.

In favor of who, exactly??

Who is this talented player who is better than Josh D., but just isn't getting his chance because the coaches like to play favorites and risk their ridiculous salaries on a 22 year old that is their "favorite"?

Do you see how stupid that sounds when you say it out loud?

i don't think coaches think they are risking their salaries. they all have contracts. we can win double digit games even with him starting. that is not the issue. josh d. is experienced as a starter and it was only reasonably for him to get first shot at lt. its seems clear that he can't do it. the next option should be collins to lt and either josh d back to guard or next guard up.
