I’m not anti Manieri but it’s hard to use 2009 as a strong plus for him. That team was so ridiculously loaded that a hobo could have coached them to success.

It wasn't just the pitching staff. This series was a complete team cluster. Every one is mentioning about the early season adjustments and tinkering. Well, other teams are doing the same thing.

How is the wrong guy closing? Peterson made the pitches to get 4 outs in the 9th on lazy ground balls. The defense crapped itself. He had 1 out then smith had a low lazy throw to first Then he missed the bag on a double play ball. On top of that Peterson didn’t hit that Texas batter. It’s not like they were smashing hits all over the park. I trust Todd’s control better then Hess control in that situation.
