After getting back from Omaha, I was watching Game 1 again and they are saying the Singer has the record for most strikeouts in a Championship Game with 12. Brett Laxton had 16 strikeouts in 1993 as a freshman in the Championship Game. I watched that game. Not a big deal, but did anyone else notice this? Am I missing something - did they mean in a 2 out of 3 championship series? Just wondering.

No, because Danny Hultzen for Virginia tied Laxton's record in like 2011 or 12.

Yep! Laxton had 16 strikeouts.
Maybe a Gator record for a freshman?
Heck, Gators never won a CWS finale game before.

It was a CWS finals record. Laxton's a championship game record. Danny Hultzen's career high in Omaha was 8 Ks in 2011. No one has matched Brett Laxton's 16 strikeouts in any CWS game since. Here is the CWs record book LINK

Arkansas and UVA did combine for 28 Ks in one game in 2009 in a game Hultzen pitched, which is 3rd all-time. Maybe that's what you're thinking of, but he only threw 7 in that game.

Is this correct? I don't think he ever pitched in a championship game.

It is record at TD Ameritrade.

Laxton record was at Rosenblatt.

no, he's not correct and you're correct, Hultzen never played in a championship game.

They don't keep separate records from the bracket and championship series. Hultzen most definitely tied Laxton's CWS strikeout record.

he most definitely did not. I've linked the CWS record book. I also went through every box score on UVA's website. His career high in Omaha was 8 Ks in one game.

Here's UVA's website. Feel free to go through their CWS games while he was there if you don't believe me LINK

I was wrong. My bad.

Just found it, he struck out 8 thru 3 innings, but was pulled due to illness.

Singer holds the CWS Finals game record for being the most relaxed. I swear I saw him dozing a few times.

Laxton literally had a lawn chair on the pitcher's mound in 93 against Wichita St.

You were making bullshite claims 3 posts ago. You lost your credibility, when you hopped from the UVA pitcher to Laxton as soon as you were proven wrong.

The reason they are giving the stat is because laxton was championship game record. Now there is a series and it's the most in series final
