They return the same number of defensive starters we do.
Bama lost 7 starters on D: Hightower, Chapman, Upshaw, Harris, Kirkpatrick, Barron and Menzie.
We lost: Claiborne, Brockers, Baker, Adams & Taylor.
I don't really count Hatcher and Francois because those guys were not on the field half the time. Mingo was a part-time starter as well over Adams.
..and 5 of the losses by Alabama on D were huge playmakers for them.
I only consider Claiborne and Brockers as big losses for our D.

who cares what people think. its May people.
all that matters is next January and what our record is.
do they have Clemson in the top 10 like they do every year?

Lord I hope so, but we couldn't block them last year and they'll still be awfully good at every position.

Sounds like an opinion
didn't some on college game day say basically the same thing last year?

Who is they?
Ed Cunnimham gave that prediction on CFL.

Meh. I'd rather trust the magazines. At least they conduct a legitimate analysis of every team.

Just Ed Cunningham's opinion what's wrong with that

Last time I checked AJ Mcarron is still their quarterback and he is nothing more than and average QB.
I would have killed to have an AJ McCarron at QB last year.

LSU receivers > Alabama receivers. Kenny Bell has done ABSOLUTELY nothing thus far in his career.

Go with Clint Moseley, he had a better yards per attempt average against LSU than chesttat.

By your logic, Menzie and Harris shouldn't count as lost starters for Bama either because their backups played just as much as they did. Harris only started five games, and Menzie played mostly nickel. So it's back to five against five.
Mingo was not a part-time starter. He was a situational pass rusher. Starting on third down isn't starting.
If you want to say they lose more "playmakers", that's fine, but that's not what you originally said that I was responding to. You're changing the terms of the discussion. Even so, Ron Brooks was a bigger "playmaker" than Chapman, Harris or Menzie; and he wasn't even a starter for us.
I also consider Taylor a big loss.

I'm a bit skeptical of this conclusion. They lost their best offensive player: Trent Richardson. He was the focal point of their entire offensive scheme. Why would Alabama improve by losing their biggest threat?
Didn't they also lose some o-linemen?
And that's a fact Jack

So what? Was anyone on Alabama's second string as productive as Mingo? Anyone?
What are you trying to prove?

Bama fans that think you lose those guys and don't drop off at all, will be in for a rude awakening. Hell in 2010 when they lost a lot less (Dareus and some corners) they got popped by AU, LSU, and USCe. I think they will have a good defense that won't be near as good as last year. It could bite them as it did in 2010.

I think LSU will miss Brandon Taylor a ton. Why shouldn't Alabama feel the same way about Barron?

Why did they rank LSU above Bama is they thought that?
ESPN is just trying to make everyone mad

They give Skip Bayliss a show every morning/afternoon with screaming A smith. Of course that's what they're doing.
