LSU commit Colin Hurley to enroll early
Will Rosenblatt
August 18, 2023 11:16
Colin Hurley, a key piece of LSU’s 2024 recruiting class, announced plans to enroll early.
It’s not unusual for quarterbacks to participate in early enrollment, but in the case of Hurley, he already reclassified to 2024 after originally being a member of the 2025 class. That means he’ll be exceptionally young when he arrives in Baton Rouge.
The spring semester will begin before Hurley even turns 17.
Hurley is ranked as a top 20 QB by all four major recruiting sites. His best ranking comes from ESPN, who ranks Hurley as the 14th best QB in the class. If Hurley remained in the 2025 class, he likely would be ranked a little higher.
Trinity Christian QB @ColinHurley tells @1010XL he will enroll early at @LSUfootball in January. He will be 16 years old. Will be 17 two months later.
Hurley’s been an active member of LSU’s recruiting class. He was one of the first to join and has worked to recruit others to commit to LSU.
He won’t compete for the job upon first arriving with Garrett Nussmeier slated to return in 2024, but Hurley certainly factors into LSU’s plans down the road.

Crazy how developed physically he already is at his age. Hoping he's a great one for the Tigers!

Hate how these guys rush their lives.... just go through the process.

He could be done with college football and prepping for the draft at 19 years old

Originally part of 25 class and he reclassified, not sure that is wise in a sport like football
He will be behind Nussmeier so plenty of time to develop, barring injury you can try and redshirt him as well

Will be in uniform and on the sidelines at 17. He might graduate at 20. I didn't even sober up until I was 22.

Going through college without the ability to get into bars sounds terrible.
And I don't think any bar would want to sneak in the QB that many people will know is underage.

Thats nice for us to kind of lock him down.
I think this reclassification thing is not all good for the player. They miss out on a whole season of competition.

Kinda feel for Hurley. Dude has been huge in helping recruit for LSU before even getting here. Seems like the ultimate team player and a great kid all around.
But Nuss will take the reins in 24’ and 25’ if he decides to stay that long.
Then if we land Underwood, when does Hurley get his shot? Can’t imagine Bryce sits for 2+ seasons.

I agree. Enjoy your youth, it goes by in a blink of an eye.

Wasn’t Lamar Jackson super young in college too? That worked out ok.
ETA: looked it up and he was 19
“He became Louisville's first Heisman Trophy winner in school history, and the youngest-ever recipient of the award at the age of 19 years and 337 days.“

Probably part of Hurley's plan. Get into a college level S&C program early. He'll have at least a year advantage with more practice, prep, and experience than any QB his age. One of his biggest knocks is his height. He still has time for a growth spurt.

You're already frightened of future QB battles and potential transfers for 2 guys not even in college yet

Oh, he’ll be able to get into bars. Don’t you worry about that.

I love this kid. One year of Nuss while Colin & Rickie learn and get stronger. Then it's a Collins/Hurley battle in 2025.

The guy could theoretically be a member of the Super Bowl winning locker room celebration when he's not even old enough to drink!

And Bo Nix will still be in college.
