Take this weekend for example. By anyone's talent evaluations, State shouldn't even be on the same field as us. Yet the game is a toss-up.

Remember Joe Alleva (Trent Johnson, Johnny Jones) and the Fking joke are running the show.

This is what scares me the most. Its time for a new coach no doubt, but nothing Alleva or F King have ever done make me think they will make a good hire!

the internet, social media and big tv contracts with all games televised did a bit to even the playing field with the traditional powers of the 20th century.

hell, even curley hallman had a couple top 10 recruiting classes before all this took off. so did dinardo.

Let's start with the abominable loss to Wisconsin, a team consistently ranked well below us in recruiting that was composed primarily of two and three stars. Huge talent disparity, all neutralized by our resident dufus.

Right, which is why for the last two or three seasons, everyone has been zeroing in on THIS year for Miles to win a championship or leave.

SEC championship is the minimum for him to keep his job.

We can have the "best" recruiting base in the country, which is debatable, but we need to dominate in that area. We are TENTH in the SEC in football recruiting budget. I'd like to see that picked up to match our second or third place in football revenue and spending.

Before Nick and Les the talent in LA constantly left the state.

Imagine if LSU actually had hired an above average coach to take over while they are established.. Now is the absolute best time to make a coaching transition.. before it gets too bad.

The sky is the limit with an above average coach, granted the talent that comes to an established LSU program.

But by all means.. let's continue to settle with Miles and 3-5 loss seasons.. like how FSU continued to drop 4-5 games a season at the end of Bobby Bowden's tenure because he had already won so many games.. yet the moment a new coach took over they started winning 11-13 games immediately.. and eventually went 2 straight regular seasons undefeated.. had Bowden continued to just coach forever.. they would not have had those tremendous seasons or another national championship.

Even good coaches go stale.. and their time has come. Even if Miles was to somehow pull of undefeated here on out, I still wish he would walk away.. and I would absolutely not raise his salary or extend him again. Call his bluff. I don't see anyone any where else paying Miles nearly 5 million. I would LOVE to see that happen. I would dare Miles to walk. So sick of the constant embarrassment of a passing game in today's time.

Historically speaking, the states that turn out the most 4-5 star HS recruits are (in no particular order):

Pennsylvania
Florida
Texas
California

and...wait for it...Louisiana.

Given the size of those other states, population-wise, one of these things is not like the others. Which means that Louisiana leads the nation in 4-5 star players per capita.

With our recent successes in recruiting, I don't see how this will change unless we get a new hire for HC and he demands a larger budget.

frick Bob Stoops. For a decade the Big XII was OU and UT. The conference was a one-game season. If he is such a great coach, may be he should have coached his brothers a little better because they sucked at HC.

I love me some LSU but I can't imagine why Alabama would be harder to recruit at than LSU.

LSU is probably in the top 6-7. I cant imagine the Florida schools, UGA and Texas/TA&M being worse.

Bama has Auburn to compete with...also surrounded by SEC schools. But they border states loaded with talent (Ga, Fla, Miss). I would say LSU has it better regarding in state but bama can recruit more nationally.
