Why don't we give Johnny Jones a little time to get settled in before drawing sweeping conclusions.
It doesn't take that long to turn around a college basketball program with great recruiting and COMPETENT bench coaching. I'm afraid both of those aren't in place. JJ gets one more year to turn it around and then it's time for Snow Peas Joe to pony up and spend some $$$$$$$$ to get a proven big time coach (And Staff) that can recruit AND coach. LSU is just "Urinating in the Wind" right now. One more year. That's it.

Your idiocy knows no bounds. And you're so elated right now, it makes me sick.

You are making an absolute fool out of yourself.

Lol, the last 5 years have definitely been LESS than mediocre! But it seems LSU and a large part if the fan base don't give flip. I would dearly love for our basketball program to become relevant. Right now it is not and will not be until we have a coach who can get us there. Jones might be the man but no one can say with any degree if certainty that he will. The evidence so far is that he is not.

Exactly what "proven" coach would you expect to come to LSU?
Maybe we should go after Krzyzewski and pay him over twice as much as Les Miles? I am sorry but LSU is a football school, they aren't going to be paying top 10 money for a basketball coach.
Johnny Jones in the two years he has been here has completely turned around the dumpster fire that TJ left us. Do you remember 3 or 4 years ago only winning 1 SEC game?

there was no reason with the talent we have to not make the NCAA tournament, but looks like it'll be another NIT or nothing at all year.
IMO "talent" (i.e athletic ability and size/length)
is no good if there's no basketball smarts to go with it. It can be developed in a player over time, for sure, but when you're trying to play with freshmen in starting positions from the get go, unless they have high basketball IQ you're not going to be very successful.
There are also other skills that don't necessarily go hand in hand with talent. Good peripheral vision - court vision for e.g.

That's true, and exactly what "elite" players would you expect to come to LSU?
JJ is recruiting talent. I have many questions as to why this team has underperformed, but JJ, barring some scandal or complete program collapse, will get two more years.

quote:If you look at Jones's record prior to being the HC at LSU, you should not be surprise with LSU's present record. Go back and look at Jones's cumulative record as a HC it speaks volumes of what to expect. When he was head coach at N. Texas did any major college come calling?
When LSU replaced Brady with Johnson, the basketball program stayed at same level if not got worse. Now, we have replaced Johnson with Jones and it still seems like the program is stuck in neutral. Until LSU decides to spend some money to try and bring in a really good coach, I think the fans will continue to get seasons like this. This year with the SEC being weak, there was no reason with the talent we have to not make the NCAA tournament, but looks like it'll be another NIT or nothing at all year.

JOB and Mickey are both talented players along with Martin
Mickey is going to be a great one....Martin is just young and inexperienced...JOB on the other hand will be just a good college player, will never make a serious run in the NBA....He disappears at times and can't put this team on his shoulders...He plays schizophrenic, tough at times, then mindless at other times.
