What I do have issues with is some of these same fans claim to know more baseball than either he or Coach Dunn & base their opinions on 1) CPM & Dunn's lack of knowledge 2) their own claimed superior knowledge.

fair enough. I agree with you on that. I guess my reaction to these "experts" is to laugh at them. and, you have to admit, at least these guys are not as bad as the football "experts".

As I stated before, I would love for this team to win it all. I just don't see how making it to Omaha (for PM) vindicates him as a great coach. He is average at best.

If he does win 1 or less games in Omaha, I would feel bad for these players who deserve an above average coach at one of the premier baseball universities, but are stuck with someone who occasionally gets to Omaha.

I will not come back here if I'm right and say I told you so, but if I'm wrong, I will come back to eat crow.

Sweet Jesus. What kind of alternate universe do you live in?

There is not one single objective measure to in any way indicate Mainieri is below average.

Neither side is always right contrary to what everyone here thinks. The "fire the coach" group is usually premature and the "gotta support the coach no matter what" group is usually stubbornly loyal.
I don't get the complete hatred the two camps have for each other. It's just a message board. It's not like Alleva would listen to either side when decision time comes.

"Average at best"? He's in the top 5 of active coaches with his win total. He just won the West Div. He just won a share of the SEC league championship. He just won the SEC league tourney. He just went undefeated through the regional & Super regional. And that is just this season. He's the College Coaches Hall of Fame. His teams have hosted 6 straight Super Regionals. In the past decade, 2 H.C. have won more national championships than CPM: they won 2. He's won one. Good Lord.
