Has anyone ever seen it. I mean not just saying "cover 2" every once in a while, but really talking x's and o's. I love watching him look at a white sheet, blowing a whistle and hollering 2 guys names in the Big Cat drills, but I keep hoping to see some kind of exhibition of technical skills, and it is never there. Sure, it is obvious that his great records over 7 years INFERS he can, but my question is simply whether anyone has ever heard him talk technical. I have seen him over 7 years on talk shows, press conferences, etc...and do not ever recall hearing him saying anything technical of substance. I have heard Mack Brown, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, etc....all talking technical numerous times, but can't recall CLM doing so.

LSU Sports Mobile+ App for the iPad>Videos>Football>Spring Practice B-Roll Video

You can watch him coaching up the Defense, as well as the Offensive Line.

He knows his X's & O's.

In his career, the guy has been:

Adam Henry, Frank Wilson, Jimbo Fisher, & Les Miles in terms of coaching. He didn't get to where he was, or where he is, without knowing the game on an elemental level.

I go to the Tiger Tour here in Houston every year. Two years ago he had a laptop with plays from Spring Practice. He would map them out prior to running the video and then run the video and show us what was happening and who the strong players were at that time. The guy knows his stuff.

Other thing at this Tour function is he is way more articulate than he let's on with the media.

This is a dumb thread. If you want to see him talk technical go back in time, be good at football and play for him

You must not watch a lot of the Les Miles press conferences and radio shows...he goes into X's and O's quite a bit.

This might just be the most retarded thread of yours in a looooooooooooooooooong list of retarded threads. You're really the absolute fricking worst. I loathe your very existence on this board.

No, his record IMPLIES that. We as fans INFER it from his record.

Sorry, just one of my message board pet peeves that gets repeated around here ad nauseum.

He's not. He has the guys to coach what he wants to do.

After 4 long years, he may finally have one.

Oh yeah, supposedly OL and QB's have the best football knowledge on the entire team. Again, what did Miles do at Michigan?

First: I don't care if he is a whiz at the X's and O's although I doubt he could get to be a head coach unless he did will at a position that required it first.

My fear would be not whether he knows X's and O's but that he doesn't but thinks he does. I don't think that is the case.

Head coaches don't need to know squat. It is their job to surround themselves with people that do. Knowing as much as your assistance isn't bad but it can lead to problems when the head coach doesn't allow them to do their jobs.

Les has been accused of this for year with the OC position. I don't know the truth but Les says he pretty much lets the OC call the shots. He might over-ride decisions which all head coaches can do.

Since then, I have watched all kinds of coaches speak for the last 4 years beyond that, and have never heard him even once "go technical", but have even heard "CEO coach" Mack Brown do so several times...it is beyond statistical anomaly for that to occur.

He's an idiot and should be fired amirite?

Get out of here with that shite.

I've seen a video of him at a dry erase board, breaking down a screen option.

I don't understand your concern. Coach Miles has an economics degree from Michigan and is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the SEC. The man obviously knows football, but is smart enough to let the guys he's hired to coach the X's and O's do their job.

Miles is more of an administrator. He lets his assistants do most of the actual coaching, don't you think? But I do think he is a damn strong coach. As long as he doesn't go against Saban when Nick has over a month to prepare.

He doesn't have a want to talk that way. And he's apparently fine just the way he is.
