Can you imagine Saban saying this?

Instead he would rant on about how good of a team they are and be pissed of the thought that furman had no chance to beat bama. Hed want due respect to the program so when they dont beat them 100-0 no one would be in an uproar. Or when he loses to ulm he can just revert back to saying i told you so.

And then I said

The performance in the Furman game cost us the Ole Miss and Georgia games.

He actually said this? Are you fricking kidding me?

Les Miles you are a freaking idiot. Sounds like he's priming our ears for this Saturdays post game.

I didn't really want to click on this thread. But morbid curiosity once again got the better of me.

I can tell you are a true Tiger fan in the truest sense of the word "fan". As a fellow fan, my intent is not to belittle you.

Scheduling football is serious business. Running the athletic department is serious business. Unfortunately as fans, you and I are distanced from the business side of football.

We currently play an SEC schedule. The west schedule is what it is. The variable part of the SEC schedule, the East, at least on paper appeared to have us lined up against the top 2 teams.

We already had an away (kind-of) non conf game scheduled with what we thought would be a top 15 program. We gave up the revenue for a home game in exchange for the cost plus the revenue for a made for TV event. Hopefully that was a wash.

Kent State was one game away from being in the Orange Bowl last year.

To schedule a big time non-conf game would have to be on a home-away contingency. We will always have 4 conference away games. After 3 of those games we are already sitting at 1-2. Just from a probability standpoint a 3rd loss between one of the red teams is likely. 4 losses certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities. I don't believe that will be case. But I, like you, am an irrational fan.

Let's suppose we win out with 2 losses. At the end of the year, does a Furman win look any better or worse than day an Iowa (insert any avg BCS conf team) win?

Most of these "cup cake" teams as everyone calks them, have good football players. I would go as far to say the cupcakes starters would at least be on the depth chart on any BCS teams rosters.

The cupcakes of today aren't the same as Ga Tech playing Cumberland in early 1900's.

Remember until this year, UAB had a winning record vs. LSU.

In state schools with the exception on USL scare the absolute piss out of me. I like and cheer for Monroe, Tech, Northwestern, McNeese, and Nichols. I sure as hell don't want to think about the possibility of losing to one of them.

Allow the administration to schedule the games. After all we are in the stretch of the most successful decade of a LSU football.

Unless you enjoy realistically losing 5-6 games a year, let's hope those making scheduling decisions are not fans like you and me?

I'm sorry but if you can't get up for a game when you've got a free ride at a great school, it's just a matter of time before you lose big in the games that matter.

There's this statement then there's reality. The human condition doesn't give a shite about free rides. Pride trumps any other motivator, no matter the sport, level, or job. You think great coaches and players are great because of money?? It's the fear of failure and pride that motivates great performers. Get over yourself.
