Reid was not coming off the bench to hit a 98 mph fastball. Reid is not the guy to get the shot there. Beau or Woley were the guys. Fastball hitters. Aggressive fastball hitters with a chance to drive the ball.

Yes to both. Jake should not have hit. Romero should have come through.

I didn't understand why Jordan wasn't put in to pinch hit. But it he could have been any of those bases loaded situations earlier too.

I don't understand why everyone is focusing on that one AB? Just about every hitter had an opportunity to make something happen in the last 5 innings of the game. The whole offense failed yesterday.

If your gonna pinch run slaughter for Coomes then hell Coomes should have really been the guy. Hell how much speed did pawl really gain there. If your gonna pinch run you pinch run the fastest guy Breaux. Pawl has lost it

Chris was a clutch hitter last year. Something we've been missing this year. Slaughter has been a disappointment. Yet PM keeps using him. Last night we needed a clutch hitter. Go figure

Was he? He was the king of two out singles with no one on base.

Why can't Pawl ever bunt the damn run home in some of these situations. I've seen plenty of other teams this year do it. But overall how many times have we loaded the bases with less than 2 outs this year and failed to score. It's mind boggling the runners left stranded at 3rd not just last night but the whole year

I tend to agree it was a total team failure to get runners home from 2nd & 3rd...and it wasn't just 1 inning...multiple bad AB's throughout the line up...guess Pap will take some heat for having a multi hit game and not coming to the plate @ the right time...

We have not groomed any LH PHers this season. You couldn't expect Reid or anyone else on the bench to succeed in that situation except for Beau Jordan who had better stats and the experience you'd like to see in there.

Mistake not developing a leftie. A mistake not letting Beau hit.

He was good enough to be the third LSU freshman ever to be in the top 5 in SEC hitting.

You're the worst fake expert on the Rant, and that's saying a lot. You said in the other thread that Reid's stats last year were due to him beating up on bad pitching. Let's do some math here.

Reid faced top-5 SEC pitching in 3 series last year - Florida, Vandy, and Miss St. Here's how he did:

-He went 3/7 (.429) with 2 doubles and 5 walks in the Florida series.

-He went 4/11 (.364) with a walk in the Vandy series.

-He went 3/10 (.300) with 2 walks and 2 HBPs in the Miss St. series.

Fact: Reid was an OBP machine in SEC play, and hit top SEC pitching the best.

Want to look closer at who he got those hits off of?

In other news, I've said very little about his play last year. Other than most of his hits being pointless. My problem is that last year was last year and this year is this year. He's not going to take over a position. So it's DH or spot ABs. He's been really bad there. Vs some pretty bad pitching too. You have last year. I have this year. Guess which is more relevant.

Chris Reid got beat out by s superior athlete, but dismissing what he did last year in SEC is not looking at facts.

With LSU hurting at third, he provided a solid, steady glove and surprised at the plate.

In SEC play, he hit 337(8th in the league) and 313 in the regionals. His on base percentage in SEC play only was sixth in the league at 455.

And no, he hasn't adjusted to coming off the bench, but who else has? No body and that's something that has hurt us all year.

I do not dismiss what he did last year in the context of last year. You are correct. The facts are that he did well especially in the SEC. But watching his ABs this year has been cringeworthy. He seems to press in the "spot AB" roll. It hasn't been good. And I don't think that means we should be giving him more of those types of opportunities THIS YEAR.

I remember him turning around Logan Shore, for one. I mean all of those hits and walks were against guys who pitched for SEC staffs ranked in the top 5 in ERA in the conference.

Yes. He doubled off Logan. When were his other hits? Off of whom?

We agree, I thought Jordan should hit for Slaughter, not Reid, Worley or any of the others because he has the experience and better stats and the pitcher had no breaking ball.

However I do believe PM has failed to develop a couple of guys off the bench as a pinch hitter is a weak spot. We especially could use a decent LH bat in a spot and thought Reid, Breaux or even Adams might be that guy.

I, too, was expecting Jordan there. Adams no. What's odd is how quickly PM gives up on Adams. I was very surprised when he was the one to stick around and not Ducote. Although I understand why Ducote left with Deichmann moving to the OF and Romero getting first crack at DH.
