The 3rd string QB who has never stepped on the field is gone and we've got people writing off 2012. The Rant at its finest.

Won't be the first time it happened. I remember Sol Graves and Chad Loupe.

In 2008, QB who spent his whole career at LSU as a backup was kicked off the team and it apparently sent us reeling for two years and counting.

Our prospective QB depth chart for 2012:

1. Zach Lee (RS Soph)---may play baseball instead, may be like every other 4/5-star QB we've recruited since Miles got here and never be a reliable starter.

2. Someone we would sign this February (RS Fr.)---no idea who he is, but assuming he's a 4/5-star, what's our track record with those under Miles/Crowton?

Garrett is just a symptom of a systematic problem with this staff in the evaluation/recruiting/development of quarterbacks. That's why things look very bleak for us at QB in 2012. His loss in and of itself is not the big problem. The pattern of incompetence, of which he is only the latest part, is.

So let's say the #1 QB prospect in the country does sign with us in February. In 2012, when Jefferson and J. Lee are gone, he'll be a RS freshman. How much help is he going to be, either as starter (if Z. Lee doesn't come here or doesn't work out or gets hurt, etc.) or 2nd string?

He would be better prepared than the guy we'd have to get the following year.

For the Miles Qb excuse take out Periloux(sp) and insert ZLee.

2007 would have been a lot different had Flynn left when he was 3rd string. People don't have any respect for the maturation process of these kids both personally and athletically. Now people have questioned CG's ability/drive to become great, and that's a different story. But, it's not the fact that our 3rd string QB is gone that has everyone upset. It's the fact that our projected starter after JJ/JL has left the team.

There are 2 many IFs in this whole thing to get worked up about whats going on with one player at this time, especially since only the coaches know the details. My thought is that if this happens in late August and ZLee is on campus and tearing it up in practice, then CG is an after thought and no one cares. Since its so slow around here right now people that would normally freak out, are, and with little rational reason. It seems to happen alot in the summers. It is what it is

Nah, you people don't get it. Its just the third QB. The only third QB the team has right now on scholorship. No biggie. Besides Garrett, you have a walkon and a potential true freshman, who may not even be on the roster in a few months.

No biggie....

It's not how what happens now affects us now. It's how it affects us in two years. The QB situation of today is due in part to Miles' decision to dismiss RP however many years ago.

holy shite, talk about a spin job..

Come on now. You know that Perriloux was the starter in 2008 and that he was proven. He started and won the freaking SECCG, cmon. The situations are entirely different. This is about as detrimental to the program as Andrew Hatch leaving.

If Garrett was struggling to beat out Bailey.. then he's a wasted scholarship.

Now this I agree with, but does anybody really know IF he was?

“I wish Chris my best,” the report quoted Miles as saying. “In my opinion, he didn’t ever seem to settle in and compete. Chris has talent. He’s a good kid and a great student. I wish him the best.”

The guy who broke the story on TB said that Garrett wasn't understanding the offense and others have said a number of times that he never improved his footwork.

When did all of this start coming out? I've not heard one negative thing about him until today. I thought he was doing well?
