I'll ask her tomorrow and report back if it is. That would be really cool if it came from her and was used by other people. I know that all of her other paintings she's ever done are originals (and she has dozens), so it would be weird if this one wasn't too.

That's awesome! Is there any way you could see if there is a name on it? If you look in the bottom right of mine, it has her name and a date on it. I tried to make it just blurry enough that you couldn't see the name, but after zooming in on it just now, I noticed you can make out the last name if you try hard enough... oops.

ETA: Ehh, actually you'd probably have to know what it is already to know what it says. I think I'm good.

It's in his office if I remember correct, so no.. Probably not. But I remember seeing this painting before.

The "Death Valley Louisiana" print that is posted in the middle of the thread was popular in the mid/late 1980s. There was one hanging in McDonalds in Bastrop. (Not taking anything away from your grandma's painting, which is excellent.)

I have one on my wall in my work out room at home. Got it back in the 80's.

Yeah. My grandparents had one like that on their wall back in the 80s too. I'm not sure who ended up with it when they passed, maybe one of my aunts.

She forgot Mike's neck. Otherwise, it's not bad I guess.

How old is that? I'm just asking because while she never implied that it was an original painting, I had never seen it any where else and assumed it was. Not that it bother's me that it's not, but now I'm curious about the origin of it. Like I said she painted it in 85, so the image is at least that old. She's been a prominent artist and married to an important member of the LSU community for decades, so now I really want to know more about it. I should ask her about it tomorrow if no one here knows, because she probably does.

Early 80's I'd say...my dad had this poster framed on his wall for years. The one you've got looks like a fine reproduction of this really well known image from the time. Looks like she simply used it as a guide and painted her own version...very neat.

If she's the original artist, then at some point she altered the design to either what you have or what ended up being the final design for the poster.

Light standards on the stadium look like screaming skulls. On my phone, anyway.
